Los Angeles-based developer Messhof Games has announced Nidhogg 2 will be arriving on the Switch eShop later this month on 22nd November. The game was first announced for Nintendo's new platform back in March this year during a Nindies Nintendo Direct showcase.
Although the original game never graced Nintendo hardware, the sequel is more of the same - requiring two players to duel and slaughter each other with a variety of weapons across multiple stages in a sort of reverse tug-of-war game. Both players must strive to be the "glorious sacrifice" to the wurm at the other end of the screen. You can take on friends in local and online multiplayer or go up against A.I. There's also an 8-player tournament mode to find out who is truly the best.
To celebrate the release date announcement for Switch, Messhof has released a funky trailer. Take a look above and tell us below if you're at all interested in downloading this when it is released.

Nice! Although I'm holding out for Smash Ultimate for my personal dosage of multiplayer party fighting, I know plenty of people who are obsessed with this game so I'm glad it's headed to the best multiplayer console on the market. I ought to give it a shot sometime.
It’s about as gruesome as Clayfighter, yes.
The art style isn’t for me, but I’m sure some may enjoy it.
I was thinking this was an indie version of Clay fighters. Seems fun though
But wonder if a type of clay fighters will happen. Loved that game
Super excited for this. The chaotic multiplayer is perfect for the Switch
uhhhhhhhh whuh?
Major flashback.
Finally!
Do we get the first one too, per chance?
That repetitive screaming is already driving me crazy from the trailer, can't imagine playing this for more than a couple minutes with the volume up.
If the original game were included, I'd buy it. One of the best games I've ever played.
I prefer the first game.
@Pablo17
I'm not familiar with the first game. Could you describe why you find it to be better?
If the first one is included i will buy it
@HatosBlack I like that picture of Michael!
@Aneira The first one was "purer" i.e. it had only the rapier as the weapon, so the players were on even footing at all times.
Also the art style was more reminiscent of 8-bit computers than pixelated gruesome claymation, which is so contentious in the sequel.
Love Nidhogg already got it on PS4. If this had been released sooner I would have got it on Switch.
It's about time...
I was hoping the original would be included when it finally came to Switch... oh well... despite the really weird art-style, the sequel is quite good.
Hopefully the price doesn't include a "Switch tax".
For anyone interested... this is one of those games in my experience that is good for people with little video-game experience to still have fun. Much simpler than a game like Smash or even Mario Kart, and just as much frantic fun.
I'm really digging the goofy visual style of the sequel here.
Really hitting an arkward SEGA Saturn vibe.
I HATE the artstyle Nidhogg 2 has to offer, but it's so much fun to play with friends. Panic attacks shall be had on the go
@SmaggTheSmug Hey.... I remember this game! I couldn't think of the name. My little brother showed me some kind of gaming tournament where DanTDM played this game with other people.
Finally. I’ve been waiting.
Does it have 4-players mode?
Clayfighter on pcp. Leettttts get ready to cruuummmmble.
@Captain_EO Thank you! Captian EO is a great moniker!
