As eager players have no doubt noticed, the promised update to Pokkén Tournament DX has now gone live. It may only be version 1.1, but it has the feel of a full 'version 2' set of additions.
As previously confirmed it adds the ability to tackle Team Battles online (this was local multiplayer only before), while group matches have also been added. You can also record movements in training, and then take control of another Pokemon to play back against the recorded 'mon, a feature sure to be put to good use by experienced players looking to improve.
They're some solid additions to an already meaty game; let us know if you plan to check them out.

Hm...
Still no additional Pokemons as Fighter ?
This should have been possible since day one(with day one I mean the Wii U version release date)
Good to see such strong post-release support across the board from Nintendo.
A far cry from many Wii U releases. Splatoon got support and there was DLC for one or two games, but that was pretty much it.
@Anti-Matter the Wii U never got them. I wouldn’t hold your breath expecting them on switch.
@Roam85 The ones the Wii U version didn't get are already included on the Switch version though.
Still haven't played the Wii U version which I've owned for ages. Maybe one day I will, it's just there's far too many games to be playing.
This game needs to take a cue from ARMS and introduce some new fighters over time.
@Roam85
I have the Switch version, you know.
@thesilverbrick the crazy part is that of the 800-900 Pokemon, they could only think of 21 Pokemon to make as fighters, and 2 of which are the same pokemon (despite that yes, they fight differently).
As others have said, this really needs DLC fighters over time. I’m assuming they want to save those for the inevitable sequel though.
@QwertyQwerty That's what happens when you play Snake Pass.
You get detached from the world.

@justin233
This just ticks me off. I bought the Wii U version at launch, expecting at least SOME support. Barring a few minor balance fixes, we got nothing.
@JedRock I’ve always thought having two Pikachus and Mewtwos was stupid. And the roster is too focused on Gen I. There is so much more potential for playable characters and they need to capitalize on it.
@thesilverbrick
Have you seen the current roster? I wouldn't call it solely gen 1 focused as gen 1 only has 1 more roster spot than the next highest gen being gen 4, with gen 4 actually having the most different species of Pokemon (7 gen 1 playable pokemon vs 6 gen 4, but 5 gen 1 species as opposed to gen 4's 6). Admittedley leaving the other 5 gens with about as many slots as each of those had is a little ridiculous, but the small roster comes with the benefit of a good balance and every playable Pokemon has been able to successfully perform at the top level
@ASonic3582 I’m aware that all generations have representation, but including clones of Pikachu and Mewtwo was a bit unbalanced in terms of generational distribution. My bigger gripe actually comes with the type representation. Fire types are relatively rare across all seven generations, yet there are four playable Fire-type Pokémon and only two Water Pokémon, despite water being the most prolific type of all. I think if they could slowly roll out a half dozen more playable Pokémon they could do a lot in terms of balancing the representation and keeping the public interested in the game in the long term.
@QwertyQwerty me too
Still haven’t double dipped in this game but keep getting closer to. If they add a few more fighters (wether paid DLC or free) i’ll Likely pull the trigger. Wii U version good enough for me now.
@wazlon I am exactly the same. Played it 3 times then never again. Just too many games and smash pretty much rules our house. Other then some sf2 on our snes classic lately.
@thesilverbrick Fair enough, and I agree with you on types, mainly since there's still 2 of the 18 types that aren't represented. Though hopefully we get more characters over time, mostly depends on how popular it is, and hopefully without having to buy another system this time.
Great game and it's good that Nintendo are still bringing out updates for it. However, I feel the roster is a bit light considering how many Pokémon there actually are. I really think they need to add some more characters, especially since Pikachu and Mewtwo have two versions each. I have been thinking about getting back into playing it and if they adding a few new characters it would certainly help.
It's strange they're not pushing this game more considering it's attached to the Pokémon brand, and that a lot of gamers missed it when it was on Wii U.
@ASonic3582 I don’t hold out much hope for free character DLC. Maybe some paid stuff, but the game doesn’t seem to have done as well as it could have. Oh well, it’s still a great game.
@Roam85 I think the Switch is more likely to add new fighters in the future as they actually have a platform that isn't dying/dead.
@Donutman Well done on getting a SNES mini, I haven't been able to buy one yet. Maybe after the holiday season they'll be in stock.
@wazlon I own 3, which I purchased at separate times and locations. 1 for me, 1 for kids, 1 as a collectors item.
And I own 2 nes minis.
Not bragging, just saying they out there. I never even preordered.
