Inti Creates did a fantastic job of continuing on the legacy of Mega Man in its own way with the stellar Azure Striker Gunvolt games, which first debuted on the 3DS a few years back. The two games just saw a rerelease on the Switch with the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack and while what’s next for the series is still just about anybody’s guess, Inti Creates recently shared some news regarding the success of the inaugural entry.
In a post on Twitter, the company revealed that sales of Azure Striker Gunvolt have surpassed 250,000 downloads. Admittedly, it doesn’t sound like a massive number when you think about how it’s been out for three years, but the company seems to be quite pleased with the numbers. It is rather impressive for a relatively low budget indie game, and the series has no doubt picked up many fans that’ll be quick to jump on Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 if and when it’s ever made.
What do you think? How did you like Azure Striker Gunvolt? What would you like to see in a third game? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Yes! Way to go Inti Creates!
The second one is even better though.
Glad to see that it's getting good numbers! Hope it continues this well or better.
An excellent game with an even better sequel.
We need Gunvolt 3.
This game is in my backlog, I will play this once I finish my 1st play through of samus returns!
It's the Megaman game that Capcom should have made a decade ago if they were actually competent.
Still one of my favorite 3DS games to date.
Since the sales have been so good, it makes me wonder even more why do they hate their European fans so much that 1.3. and 1.4. version updates for ASG1 have never come in Europe to 3DS eShop.
I probably don't even need to mention the Striker Pack since we never got that either.
I really would like to hear an explanation either straight from the devs or through journalistic investigation from NLife's excellent writers like @SwitchVogel why Inti Creates never updated the European version.
That behaviour and combined lousy work they did on Mighty No 9 just killed all my interest in their company's work.
I wouldn't mind if the 1.3 and 1.4. were just some stability fixes, but 1.3. changes the whole game with the so called Steam update and Japanese language etc.
I'd prefer a Mighty Gunvolt Burst 2, but I'd settle for ASG3.
I wonder what the highest selling non-Nintendo and non-VC download only 3DS eShop game is. Any ideas?
@justin233 I think is was Shovel Knight, but it got a physical version though.
Bought the first on 3DS but felt a little lacking. Few enemy types and little variety. The tagging mechanic also got old fast. Also didn't really enjoy using the circle pad.
Its difficult not trying to compare it to the awesome Mega Man Zero games.
Either way will be buying the double pack for Switch once a release date is confirmed.
Eh, the first one was a mediocre platformer. Don't know about the second one.
The second one is much better. Copen feels like playing a mix of Megaman X and Sparkster.
One to get me thinks
@justin233 One of the Monster Hunter games, probably? Yes, even though it has a physical release.
@justin233 SteamWorld Dig I believe!

😁😂
They really should have updated graphics a bit. I love it and this is my second Striker pack (got 3DS as well), but there's no excuse for not getting better graphics. It's quite visible on the TV.
Oh, well, I'll keep complaining after I beat it again...
These games are even better on Switch. I love the second one. Copen is so much fun to play!
Way to go Inti! Yes to ASG3 please.
Definitely some of my favorite platformers. The 8-bit iterations and the newer looking ones that came out in the dual pack. I’m hoping there’s more to come! You hear me, Inti?! Also LOVE what they did with Blaster Master. Having extra characters is really cool but for as much as I like it, it does take away from the “Metroid-esque isolation” of the underground world.
Whatever— keep it coming and congrats!
I just want them to keep making games on Nintendo platforms, loving me some Gunvolt on Switch right now, just as i enjoyed Megaman Zero (top 5 games for the GBA for me) on the GBA and Megaman ZX on the DS. Can't wait for the upcoming Switch game, and i hope they do bring us more Gunvolt in the future.
Man, I totally missed out on this game. I watched a couple of playthroughs on Youtube and thought it was AWESOME. You guys are gonna bring Joule back on ASGV3, right? I thought she was adorable and deserves more spotlight. Plus, the later stages seem absurdly hard without her "invincibility" effect. Keep up the great work.
Wait, I know. How 'bout a MMZX and Gunvolt crossover co-op game. I'd love to see the Zero or Model ZX use gunvolt-fashioned skills, except 10 times better and more bad-ass. HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR.
