It's not always easy to keep up with the various iterations, naming rights and games based upon Harvest Moon, but Story of Seasons is indeed a take on the series from key creators, regardless of its brand in the West.
The good news for European gamers that have been waiting for the latest in the series is that, at last, a release date of 13th October has been given.
We rather liked Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns in our review of the North American release, giving it a hearty recommendation. Are any of you European 3DS owners planning to pick this up?

Keen to get this if my backlog allows for it, but it's a hectic time for games.
Finally. October is a perfect month for growing aubergines.
Still waiting for Bokujou Monogatari Switch...
Man, the 3DS is really going out with a bang, what a fantastic final year overall
@gortsi This isnt the final year of 3DS even after the Switch launch in March Nintendo has stated they will support the 3DS with new games in 2018 as well.
@Joffe27 well we definitely know what's coming out in 2017, so let's wait until they actually announce the games before 2018 before we claim they are still supporting it then. I mean 2017 makes sense, but it will be 7 years old in 2018, long overdue for retirement, at least in terms of making new games for it.
@gortsi it's not its final year ;D
@manu0 Wanna bet?
@gortsi Yes i wanna bet since the xbox 360 is 12 years this year and the ps3 is 10 years and they still get new games on it.
This is the most relevant post that I can make about this game in consideration to how much I enjoyed the prequel.
OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG.
But in all seriousness, I AM looking forward to this.
@Joffe27 Key word: new games. The PS3 and the 360 mostly get sports games and Just Dance now and even the sports games are legacy editions. The 3DS is getting some new games this year (Hey Pikmin, Ever Oasis, FE Warriors), along with late Japanese localisations (Miitopia, Dr. Kawashima in Europe, Cudcept, RPG Maker, Shin Mengami Tensei etc.) and some remakes (Metroid, Mario and Luigi, Ultra Sun, Radiant Historia etc). How many completely new games do you think it will get in 2018? There's a huge library already, especially if you include DS games. Time to move on for the company, there's a new console out and it needs all the support. And I'm saying this as an owner of 2 3DS' and I will also be buying the N2DS XL.
@gortsi They are still considered new games even if it is just another Just Dance or Fifa that is still a new version of those series on 12 and 10 year old hardware. But yeah we will just have to wait and see if Nintendo keep their word.
@Joffe27 Oh yeah, no disagreement there, Just Dance is also coming not only to the Wii U but to the original Wii as well! And I love that they are still coming out, I bought both PES and Fifa 2014 for the PSP and the PS2 (!), which were the very last games for both platforms. I think Nintendo keeps pumping out 3DS games this year because a) these have been in development for a while anyway, and b) because they know they won't be able to satisfy demand for the Switch until the holidays. I think that if they streamline their production we won't be seeing much, but there'll definitely be other stuff coming from third parties, we still don't have a solid date for the new Layton game and Yokai Watch 3 will also be inevitably localised too.
@gortsi Looking forward to the new Layton game myself and would definitely buy Yokai Watch 3 if it get localised. Yeah there is problably some more 3DS games in development or localisation for the west. We haven't got either of ace attorney games thats set in the 19th century Japan or Detective Pikachu here still.
@Joffe27 I hate hate hate that Capcom never localised AA Investigations 2 or the 2 other AA games you mentioned. I also don't understand why they never put the Apollo Justice (already available on IOS and Android) and AA Investigations 1 games on the 3DS eshop like they did with the original trilogy, it can't be that difficult. Come on Capcom let us give you our money
@gortsi Same here really enjoyed AA Investigations on the ds back in the day wish i still had my copy. Would buy those games in a heartbeat physical or digital don't matter just make them available to us in the west as well.
@Joffe27 Another indication is that neither Lego Ninjago nor the Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 are coming to 3DS. I don't believe any previous Lego games skipped the system.
Yes! Thank you! At least our EUR players haven't been forgotten. So that's SOS and PM for Oct and Nov, both are my favorite titles. Really looking forward to this!
@gortsi Yes thats true the 3DS got all the other Lego games plus a few of its on so yeah its gonna be exciting to see how much love Nintendo and third parties give the 3DS in its 7th year.
