Last week we reported on the news of One Piece Unlimited World Red - Deluxe Edition being confirmed for Nintendo Switch in Japan. With the original on 3DS, Wii U and other platforms having been localised it seemed like a good bet to also arrive outside of Japan, and now Bandai Namco has confirmed just that - for Europe so far, at least.
An overview reveal trailer was posted in Japan just recently, and now Bandai Namco's European YouTube channel has published a localised version of the trailer along with some further details, confirming a September release in the region.
Re-discover the original adventure of Luffy and his pirate crew that encounter and befriends a cheerful yet mysterious raccoon named Pato who possesses a shadowy power to create anything drawn onto a leaf. In order to help their newfound friend, Pato leads the crew to the Forgotten Island where they get kidnapped by a wicked pirate named The Red Count and Luffy must fight to recover his crew from the enemy’s grasp and find out exactly what The Red Count’s evil plots are. The adventure will come loaded with incredible content thanks to the inclusion of more than 40 DLC’s.
ONE PIECE UNLIMITED WORLD RED - DELUXE EDITION will be available digitally for PlayStation 4,PlayStation 4 Pro and PC on August 25th 2017. Nintendo Switch - both physically and digitally on September 2017.
The wording suggests that it'll be a download-only release on PS4 and PC, albeit it'll arrive earlier, while it'll also arrive in stores on Switch. Two player co-op is also re-confirmed, and apparently players can rely on a framerate "up to" 60fps, though we'll see how performance stacks up when it actually arrives.
In any case it's good news to see another title confirmed for the Switch, in this case also packed full of the DLC that came to the original. We'll keep an eye out for the equivalent North American announcement, too.
Are you interested in picking this up?

Well, that's neat to know.
Nice! I remember waiting for the last one to be localized and it taking a while nice to know this one is coming out quicker. This is posed to be a nice addition to early fall.
If the gameplay is like the previous entries that is. Which it looks like it is so good stuff.
Already played it on WiiU, There is not much incentive to buy this one as the "wii version" had much better gameplay and story.
Sweet, will pick this up, especially with a physical copy!
Hmm, could be interesting. I might pick it up physical. I did have the 3DS version, played for about 3 hours, and ended up never touching it again. Aspects seemed cool, aspects seemed repetative, but I think the biggest problem was the camera control/angle and the choppy framerate made it not fun to play. An HD Switch version should fix a lot of that problem.
Great! I'll be picking this one up for sure. Physical version for me if I can find it here in Brazil
It looks decent, but i'm having trouble nailing down what the actual gameplay is comparable to. It looks like a bit of kingdom hearts with some dark souls and dynasty warriors thrown in.
If I could SWITCH the dlc in the switch version to the 3DS version, would be a swell day one for sure (just hopeful thinking, lol)
i will definently pick this up physically.
Skipped it on Wii U since it was digital only, will definitely get it now for Switch!
Never played this.
Since it's getting physical I'll buy it. I skipped on Wii U because it was digital only
......... weird game ......
What is this game? Fighting? 3d platformer? Action adventure?
Think I just heard RogersBase squeal with excitement
@readyletsgo Kind of a....well it's.....it's got a talking raccoon. That's about all the description you need really.
It's kind of an action adventure with a brawler fight mechanic and an RPG like map/mission layout?
Cool. I've never even seen the show, but UWR was really fun. Had a kind of Mega Man Legends feel.
I have this on PS3 physically, I got it for like $10 new on a Black Friday sale, but I have never played it mainly because I am waaaay behind on One Piece. I'm somewhere in the Water 7 arc, I think.
Someday I will play it. Someday....
Day one for me. Was actually looking into getting the Wii U version some weeks ago, so this is perfect timing.
I recall enjoying playing it on Wii U, which is impressive as i hate One Piece
@Tsurii Story Mode already had Co-op
Ugh...
@RedMageLanakyn its just kingdom hearts.
Combat wise is dull. Like 5 hit combos only.
Only worth while thing is that graphics are good, and levels look nice
@JaxonH
Hey buddy. I have this on vita physical copy, it worth a purchase. Also I have one piece unlimited pirate Warriors physical, it's basically like Hyrule Warriors and the new up and coming FE warriors, it's a good game that I hope comes to switch. I would prefer to see sequel's on switch or new Japanese ip's then it would be a must buy for me, I will probably have to wait a year or two before that happens
Oh yes.^^ I love one piece and though it looks a little bit cheap im really looking forward to this.
When this came out, I was nowhere near the New World arc. Years later, I'm still not on the New World arc.
Oh the pain of being a One Piece reader..... XD
@Anti-Matter What's wrong? I would love to see more anime games coming to Switch!
@NintySnesMan
Speaking Of Vita, I FINALLY got remote play working. I'm playing Persona 5 as I type this, from work. Finished Zelda and MK8 and got a little time until Disgaea 5 and Street Fighter, and while it is laggy and cuts off every 10 min, I'm just happy I'm getting some use from it. Probably eating my mobile data alive but, ever since Switch I insist on being able to play games wherever. It's like a permanent lifestyle, I can't go back!
@hieveryone
I prefer Sporty Animes come to Switch like Kuroko no Basuke or Haikyuu or Free Iwatobi. One Piece is sooo.... ugly for me.
The more Switch retail games sitting on store shelves the better I say! A port also but nonetheless a decent game to add to the Switch library! Keep em coming!!
I recently have gotten into One Piece, so this is a definite buy for me.
@JaxonH
Yeah remote play is a great feature for vita, but you need a great connection to get the full benefit of it. I can understand why you want to play anywhere anytime and now you have 2 machines that give you that option, good on ya, variety is the spice of life
@Anti-Matter I don't watch One Piece but yeah I would love to see them make a Kuroko no Basket or Haikyuu game! But still more games the better
Cool! More interested in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, but great to see more games from Namco!
Will pick this up day one. Is there a reason the Switch version can't launch the same time? Not that the wait is long or anything but what are the issues delaying it?
EDIT: Just saw its physical only for Switch? (PS4 digital only?). That'd probably be it then
@Anti-Matter For some reason I get really trigger by negative comments related to my favorite things of all time. Why do you think it looks ugly? I think its one of the most unique art styles in anime at the moment. Or do you just mean the game? Questions .
I have Unlimited World Red and Pirate Warriors 3 on Vita. I love them both. Great art style and fun games too. I'd love to see more One Piece games on Switch. I think it's a good fit.
Definitely going to get this. I am a One piece fan.
@MysticPanda
Eh... sorry if you felt insulted.
In my opinion, I don't like the character design nor even the storyline of One Piece. (Not interested with Pirate theme and boring battles like Dragon Ball). Boring...
I'm interested with Sporty anime like Prince of Tennis (Plus Hilarious Chibi episodes inside), Kuroko no Basuke , Free! Iwatobi ( Wow, sexy High School Swimmer Boys ), certain Girlie anime like Sailor Moon S ( I like the Daimon's outfits. Very Lady Gaga. Very hilarious and serious story at the same time) and Cute / Funny Anime.
Maybe they will port Attack on Titan and Berserk soon. Though I'd really want a Valkyrie Drive and Senran Kagura PBS port!
@Anti-Matter Hmm, okay I understand. I like your unique taste in anime. Don't get that very often.
Im going to get this only to show support for One Piece so that we can get new OP games on the Switch in the future
This is fantastic news, the wiiu game was great.
@Tsurii @NEStalgia that actually sounds like great fun! I'll keep my eye on it. Thanks lads!
I wonder if the coop is fun. Then I'll probably get it.
@GameOtaku
Valkirye drive is a good game, I have it on vita physical copy, very similar to senran kagura. This is why I own a vita, to play Japanese games. Drive Girls coming this month will probably be my game of the year
Gimme my weeb games.
