Nintendo has published a trio of Switch commercials for the Japanese market which focus on promoting what makes the console so unique when compared to its rivals.
The adverts show off the system's biggest selling point - the fact that it can docked with your TV as well as used as a portable device - but attention is also given to the versatility of the Joy-Con controllers and the intrinsic appeal of effortless local multiplayer.
The ability to take the console with you is big selling point when compared to the likes of the PS4 and Xbox One, and these commercials do a good job of promoting that; the ability to take your system with you wherever you happen to go that day and challenge people to competitive gaming sessions could be the element which really captures the imagination of the mainstream market, so it's good to see Nintendo hitting that marketing beat so effectively here.

Perhaps you feel differently, and think that the commercials don't do enough? Let us know by posting a comment.

The Zelda footage is amazing
Makes me want to buy 3 of them
Nintendo Switchii
I love this commercials.
Great to see them advertising so much this time around, its bound to help. Just hope they are making plenty of units:)
These commercials seem more lively and fun than the Western counterparts have been. The Japanese people seem to be actually enjoying themselves.
@PinkSpider Only 3?
It's a strong concept simply but well communicated. It gives me faith that Nintendo has a clear focused vision for what they want the Switch to be from day one - which is something they didn't have with the Wii U.
In many ways the Zelda ad is the weakest because it's the least compelling while the first ad that shows impromptu multi-player is the strongest.
That brief look at Link and Zelda riding on horseback into the sunset looks amazing.I don't think they've shown that in any other trailer?
I tried not to watch the Zelda footage..........
I tried really hard................
Must. Look. Away.........
I failed.
I wanted to experience it all for myself, I wanted to........
It's just that it is so captivating.
They're alright I guess. Of course being in Japanese doesn't help watching from our perspective and they're not realistic scenarios. In Europe, they need to put Switch ads on TV, especially in Ireland and the UK. It's no good making these and plopping them on Youtube. They need to spend money on proper advertising.
I like the way they are only 30 seconds long. Short, sweet and to the point. Good Job Nintendo marketing team. For once.
Now bring that to the UK and USA marketing.
Brilliant. Clearly and quickly sums up what can be done and how it works. Unlike other negative people here, I for one think it shows Nintendo is focused on selling the concept.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Here, let me show you the way to the Minus World, where it's better for your kind.

Great handheld. Well that's the way I would use it anyway. I don't care if it's underpowered but the biggest problem for me is it won't have a Web browser for when out and about
@Azooooz Hurry back under your bridge.
I like these. Good job Nintendo.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE You're funny!
I have watched 3 of them from Youtube.
Good job, Nintendo !
@Colonel1000 Thank you.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE You're welcome!
Getting the SNES was exciting. Getting the N64 was exciting. Getting the Gamecube was alright (rogue squadron 2 was pretty good though). Getting the Wii was exciting. Getting the Wii U? Not so much! Getting the Switch is exciting!
Well done. Interesting age demographic. Still dying to know if multi-Switch play requires multiple game cards. With 2 kids wanting Switches, I hope not....
@Damo Have you seen this latest 1-2 switch game!? Called Baby haha. I have a 6 month old, trust me, you don't volunteer for extra time doing this

@Toph6661 I wonder if the Switch wakes itself up at random every hour during the night?
btw - i dub that woman in the mario kart ad, "japanese karen".
It has been confirmed therr is no browser on switch at launch....
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Damn that one ugly photo you've got there!
@arnoldlayne83
No internet browser? Do you have a source?
Zelda looks stunning.
Looks breath taking, oh why does it take til March until my pre-order arrives.
I found the Splatoon 2 add interesting. There weren't eight people playing but there were eight inklings. So three scenarios: bots, local plus online together, or (and the most likely) an overlook and there is nothing on the screen.
Ok, seeing the new Zelda scenes on these trailers, I think now is the point where I cut myself off from any new videos. Not that they're spoilers mind you, but I want to go as blind as possible.
I like the advertising focus. Sweet to the point. I will say the Japanese ads seem so much more lively.
@Colonel1000 I also got Super Money Ball for GC, I adored that game! Be nice on the switch too.....
I don't know why, but like these better then the Western-ones!
The second commercial is the most realistic scenario, especially in Japan. I can totally see a group of people meeting up to play a multi-player game where they each have their own system. In Japan that regularly happens with games like Monster Hunter. In fact, the sooner that Monster Hunter comes to Switch in Japan, the better.
@brettwayne They are all online?
@idrawrobots Yeah, I thought about that after the fact. Almost edited it into my comment. But all online would be a pretty good assumption as well.
The guy in all the ads is Yo Oizumi, the voice of Professor Layton in Japan!
