There are a surprising number of fishing games available across Nintendo systems, with multiple examples on WiiWare and 3DS. They must be popular releases as, otherwise, developers wouldn't go out of their way to create and release the games; it sure beats wading around at a real lake, right?

Aksys Games thinks so, and has confirmed that Family Fishing will come to the 3DS eShop in North America on 19th November. There'll be various locations and opportunities to upgrade gear, and generally to "fish like a boss!". Naturally larger fish will pose a challenge, though rather disturbingly - in what we assume is for multiplayer or AI matches - you can "throw smoke bombs to disrupt your opponents and seize the advantage". Crikey, we thought fishing was supposed to be relaxing.

In any case, if you're a fan of fishing games this may have the hook you're looking for. Because you use a hook when fishing.

Yeah, that was a bit of a fishy pun, we apologise.
