After a number of missteps in the past under different names, it felt like The Game Awards 2014 were a success. For one thing we got to check out quite a bit of Nintendo goodness including a look at The Legend of Zelda on Wii U, but beyond that it was primarily focused on games and their creators as opposed to dodgy attempts at comedy.

Ahead of this year's awards on 3rd December producer Geoff Keighley has already been talking of improvements, including cutting the broadcast to about two hours (instead of three) and focusing more on the awards themselves with a few less World Premiere trailers. We're hoping Nintendo will be involved again as it was last year, too, with Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime once again named as one of a number of executive-level consultants.

Beyond that music will feature, though, with Koji Kondo making a memorable appearance in 2014. This year's show should be pretty good on this score, obviously depending on taste, as CHVURCHES and deadmau5 are confirmed acts; this writer thinks that's a pretty strong line-up.

There's a video focused on the announcement below. We'll be livestreaming and blogging the event again this year; will you be watching?
