The Pokémon Company International is teaming up with international toy retailer Build-A-Bear Workshop to bring the legendary Pikachu into even more homes across the globe.
Walk into a Build-A-Bear store in early 2016 and you'll be able to make your very own Pikachu. The character will be rolled out across stores in the US, Europe, Canada and Australia, and will be sold with a special promo TCG card as a little bonus.
Those familiar with the Build-A-Bear process will know that accessories and clothing also figure, and in Pikachu's case you'll be able to purchase an optional Poké Ball Hoodie and have a Pikachu sound chip installed. To top it all off, if you order it online you'll also get a Charizard costume.

Well I'll be, I might even try that.
I wonder if level five will try this promotion with Yo-Kai watch?
@Damo "un-bear-able" genius my friend pure genius LOL!!!
There ya go, now that's how you market your IP. Nice. My kid turns 11 in January, I'll get him 1 w/ the Charizard costume if it comes out by then.
Cool!
Look, a Teddiursa!
For anybody wondering about US prices, not sure what Nintendo will add-on for the Pikachu license but normally stuffed animals are $25, costumes are $12.50, hoodies are $8.50 and sound chips are $5, so it would be $51 for the complete set.
Pikachu isn't there yet but here's the normal stuffed animal shopping link.

Seems like I'm going to raise my adult creep factor by 3 points early next year. Guess I could plan this with my gf to make this less awkward when I'm there.
@rjejr Ain't that the truth? Then again, Pokémon does a good job at getting that type of thing done anyways. Get your IP into any and every nook and cranny of the market as you can.
Hell, I think I may hit up one of these. Too bad no Umbreon costume though; looks like I have some feedback to give though.
I'd like to stuff a Pikachu alright

@Lalivero "Pokémon does a good job at getting that type of thing done anyways."
That is true about Pokemon. Long running tv show. Many major motion pictures. The trading cards. Toys. They always announce their games about a year in advance - I'm assuming something about XZ and YZ in Feb/Mar. Plus their Pokemon TV apps on smart devices. And spin-off games. Not sure why Pikmin or Ice Climbers or some other core Nintedo IP coudln't get that big. And Mario should be everywhere. 30 yr anniversary and SMM should have been accompanied by every product under the sun. Happy Meal toys are nice, but there's more to life than those. Like Band-Aids. I personally don't think you've made big it until you've been on a band-aid.
Just what I need in my house, more Build a Bears!
"Un-bear-able"
Ahhh Waka waka
Dang. I might get this for my sister's next birthday. I would definately be all over a Dedenne plushie though.
@rjejr Yeah, Pokémon is pretty much every damn where and, as shown by this, is -still- expanding. Speaking of 'XY/YZ', with this lapse we are in, one would think that we have something in the works for Pokémon's 20th anniversary next year. :v
And xD @ the Band-aid comment; so true. I kinda think that about pasta and stuff, too, haha:
Wait wait waaaaait!!!!
Are they gonna ask us to do that "ritual thing" or "spell"? hell NO!
We have to ask one kid to do that for us
or say that is for one baby or something like that
definitely want one of those. and i have three kids lol so it works for me lol but i'm also a woman so i won't get any dirty looks going in there I don't think.
Lucha outfit or no purchase.
This will be great maybe in time for Pokemon Z release date.
@Lalivero ooh, nice pasta pic. And it just dawned on me, Mario is kinda Italian, he'd go great on a can of spaghetios and meatballs. It's so perfect! (Hope I don't start anyone on a rant about stereotyping and political correctness.)
Hnggggggggggggggg
Ohhh, this is very tempting. It might be a bit embarrassing for me to go in there, but I'll be fine once I remember that nobody in the store or nearby will care what I'm doing.
Welp time to grab a disguise and hope I don't see anyone I know.
@rjejr Outrageous! How dare you stereotype an Italian stereotype! Seriously though if you want to talk about how good The Pokémon Company are at getting their characters everywhere, just look at how they were mascots for the Japanese Football team in Brazil last year. That made the BBC 6 o'clock news!
@PiplupJ What impresses me the most about Pokemon is that it will be 20 years next Feb that they've been around. There have probably been countless other popular fads in that time frame but they just keep going with no sign of slowing down. Bigger I think than Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they've managed that w/ only a 1 word title, not 4.
omg i'll take 50 D:
ok just let me get all teh pikachu outfits pls.
I really wanna do this, but there's a good chance I'll see somebody I know in there. Unless I can find friends who wanna go which will more than likely be impossible. sigh Might have to just order it online. Definitely one of those moments where you wish you had a younger sibling who wanted one.
HNNNNNGGGGHHHHHHHH I love Build a Bear! I was hitting up their Hello Kitties when I was working full time. I needed a Build-a-Pikachu like yesterday. I normally like to go to the store but that Charizard hoodie....
My sister does this some times. I think she did a minion from Despicable Me. I'm not really interested in Pikachu, but if they had a stuffed Greninja...
initiate hype engine. last and only build a bear i bought was a monkey when i was like 13 or something. But this i am really excited about
I might need to get one for each of my kids.
@rjejr Hard to say if Pokemon is bigger than TMNT. TMNT has been around for over 30 years now.
If they make an Eevee I can dress up, I will head there in an instant.
"I will buy it for my kids"; "I will buy it for my girlfirend/wife"...
I don't buy it ....LIARS.
I know you will buy it for yourselves and probably not for yourselves, some to kids and/or wives/girlfiriends (as smoke cover) but MOST for yourselves.
Its a not shame to be more than 25 years old Pokemon fan, you know?
@MadAdam81 I kind of feel like, 1, TMNT kind of comes and goes in waves, it isn't consistent, and 2, it's a smaller thing, like a Rocky Horror Picture Show cult. Though among young boys you are probably correct. Is there anything like those world wide Pokemon card game tournaments or video game tournaments for TMNT? I'm not sure, but I don't think so. Those turtles do have legs though.
Why wait you say? I have a good reason. Pikachu merch is everywhere. I could buy 3 pikachu plushies on eBay for the price I'd pay at Build-a-Bear, if I really wanted it. If it were a Pokemon that seldom got any merchandise I'd be more interested and take my daughter. But other then her backpack, she has no other pikachu stuff. Not that she needs anymore Pokemon plushies. She's got a ton.
@GamePerson19 muppet show reference got
@rjejr I'd buy Mario Spaghetti-Os or whatever if they could make them gluten free (as I have Celiac). I hate cooking and opening and heating up a can of questionably nutritious food is just about my speed.
As for the Pikachu Build-a-Bear I don't think I've been inside one of those since I was 12 or so but I would totally make a stuffed Pikachu, even though I remember Build-a-Bear being super expensive. I won't be near one until June, however. Hopefully this is still going by then! Otherwise I may have to make a special two and a half hour trip into another state just for a stuffed animal, which is totally a thing grown ups do, right?
@TheLobster Or you could just order one online.
It's not on there yet, but I'm sure it will be as the Charizard costume is listed as online only. But yes it is expensive.
http://www.buildabear.com/shopping/search?q=Promise+Pets&sc_hpan=overlay_PromisePetsUS
I want Charizard costume without doing it online o_o;;; But then again Poké Ball Hoodie might be cool too... wonders they will be doing this in my area...
@rjejr Making it online sort of defeats the purpose of "Build"-a-Bear though, doesn't it? Though the Charizard costume does sound fun...
@TheLobster Well yeah, if you want to get all technical about it. I'd rather just buy 1 pre-made then let my kid mess it up and buy a messed up one. But no, you're right, I wasn't thinking right about this one.
@rjejr Haha, true, it does take the pesky kid out of the equation who is apt to screw it up... Er, make it more lovable and unique! But no, whenever I was there the clerks pretty much hovered and made sure that didn't happen so it amounts to the same thing.
@TheLobster Ah, never been to won. My kids have been invited to several parties where they paint their own Pokemon ceramic wall hanging, those never come out very good, I think Jiggly is purple and Pikachu is green. There is a bear place near us though, maybe I'll let the kid build his own if he'll have some supervision. Then again if Charizard is online only that's annoying. Life is just full of trade-offs, isn't it?
@rjejr True that. A wise man once said, "You can't always get what you want." Oh wait no that was Mick Jagger. Ah well.
@TheLobster You sure it wasn't Adam Levine?
