Super Mario Maker continues to bring joy to hundreds of thousands of people across the globe, but now you can experience this custom Super Mario experience in a somewhat more violent manner.
Released today, the Super Mario Maker stage is available to buy for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS, and alongside this new offering on the Wii U version is the classic stage from Super Smash Bros. Brawl; Pirate Ship. Both of these new areas are dynamic, but Super Mario Maker takes it one step further by offering entirely randomised levels, so it's different every time you play.
Check out the videos below to see these two fantastic new stages in action with two, four, and eight players on both the standard and Omega forms.

I was really disappointed when I found out that the WindWaker level from Brawl didn't return so this is great news! I'm also already a big Super Mario Maker fan so its new level will also be a must get.
YES!
YEEEEEAH!
I wasn't expecting Pirate Ship to return, but I am SO glad it did. It deserved to.
I'm glad these are out. Also I was thinking of what if Fourside was brought over? I would love that!
@NintyMan
There are a lot Mario and Zelda themed stages but most of them are really good but it would be nice for another stage of a different series
I'd pay $1.99 to be able to play multpilayer in SMM, like we could in NSMB, NSMBU, and SM3DW. Little Big Planet allowed 4 player, even online, so they can't use level editor as an excuse. Just more lameness from Nintendo, the company that brought us the TEAM based shooter Splatoon that lacks voice chat between friends.
I'm really beginning to think everyone who works at Nintendo is incomptent.
No mention of the prices for these DLC pieces? I'll probably get the Mario Maker stage. I like Pirateship, but I was very disappointed with the lack of new music for the stage from the videos. The omega form for it looks great though.
Yes! I was hoping for Pirate Ship to make its return! (kinda was hoping it'd be in the WWHD style, but still good to have it)
I too was hoping the prices would be mentioned in this article, which is why I clicked on it...
@greengecko007 @EmmatheBest
The prices are listed on the Smash bros main DLC page.
Not really caring about the DLC, I already paid too much extra for this game as it is with the other stages and characters and I probably won't be buying this (or future) DLC. I didn't even buy the costumes, no point in something you can only use with part of the game.
Hey, don't forget about the 3DS! We may not have the pirate ship stage, but we got the Duck Hunt stage!
That was a pretty big thing that I'm surprised you didn't put in the article.
Mario Maker is indeed a cool stage, but I can't help but notice that at all times it's displaying something that doesn't really reflect the source material - why, it's SLOPED SURFACES! There's even some tilted platforms for a moment. I guess it would be even more innacurate to show the hand drawing that, but I wonder what the thought was when they chose to have such cut corners on the platforms. Certainly not "hey, this will look just like the actual game!". It's practically mocking us, but it's still a nice stage to have.
The Mario Maker course seems pretty neat, but seeing as my friends and I play competitively, I probably won't pick it up. Glad to see the Wind Waker stage returning. Hopefully there will be a new character soon?
I hope there's downloadable content in Super Mario Maker and it's free
Omega Pirate Ship will EASILY be my favorite stage in Smash 4 period.
@rjejr Wow. Way to derail the point of the article... XD :/
I won't be buying this DLC soon... maybe when Christmas rolls around.
Nuts, the Pirate Ship is only available on the Wii U Version. >_<
@VeeFlamesNL ruff morning. Get it, ruff, b/c your avatar is the Duck hunt dog, instead of rough.
And if you thinks thats bad - derailment, not my pun - , don't read any of my comments in the previous update post. I think there's 8,000% humidity in my house, probably b/c I took the AC out of the window on Sunday.
@rjejr I thought the same thing about Sega after the Saturn bombed.
@rjejr Ah. Makes a lot of sense now. XD
I could return a pun, but right now I'm not ready to think... XD
@Superryanworld I'm still not exactly sure how the Dreamcast bombed, had some great games on it, and the first to market w/ what I would consider "photorealsitc" graphics for it's gen. (For the time anyway, obviously not by today's standards.) And it had built in online play w/ it's dial-up modem. And the VMU that let you play minigames on the go. But apparently between PS2 hype, pirating, and the bad taste from the Saturn they couldn't sell the thing.
It's why I unfortunately forsee the NX as the Dreamcast. Hope I'm wrong, but that's what history tells me. How do you come back from a console selling 100 million units and whooping the 2 competitors to a system selling only 10% of that? Who's buying an NX?
Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.
I just want to know the cost of this DLC so I can LOL.
@Sanicranfast But putting the prices in the article too doesn't take much time or space, yet would be a major convenience to those reading so they don't have to further navigate to get that information.
@rjejr The Dreamcast flopped mainly because SEGA killed off the Saturn too early. That's why Sony and Microsoft didn't kill off the PS3 and Xbox One respectively early but rather focus on trying to make the console as good as it can be for the fans. Of course this brings in the whole NX 2016 debate, is the rumour correct and Nintendo's risking alienating their fanbase or is 2016 in fact a Wii U + 3DS only year and NX is actually coming out holiday 2017.
All these people were wondering why Pirate Stage wasn'the included before, but I say...the less we mention Brawl, the better......and then we're still reminded byou that crappiece of a game with this DLC! URGH, FINE! But give us more 64 stages, okay?
@MrWarner14 YES! honestly any earthbound stage would be good, even new pork city, but especially fourside.
@Grumblevolcano I'm glad I don't work at Nintendo to have to make the NX release date decision.
BTW, 100 mil Wii and 10 mil Wii U leaves open for debate that they have already alienated 90% of their paying customers, so if they bring out NX early and annoy 10 mil Wii U owners that still leaves 90 mil Wii owners who have yet to upgrade - minus the 25 mil PS4 owners - still leaves 65 mil.
Put another way:
80m PS3 + 80mil Xbox360 + 100mil Wii = 260 mil last gen home consoles
25m PS4 + 12m X1 + 10m Wii U = 47m this gen
That's over 200 million console owners from last gen who haven't purchased a new console yet. Reason enough to give the finger to 10m Wii U owners, no? NX n 2016 wouldn't be next gen, it would be this gen vs PS4 and X1. Should only take 2 good years to catch X1. Never catching PS4, not w/ FFXV, KH3, U4 and all their 3rd party support. But they could probably sell more NX in the next 2 years than Wii U in 4. And if not, give up home consoles like Sony is doing w/ handhelds.
I hoped the Mario maker stage would be free. Ah well...
So in the end Smash Brothers Wii U costs something like $120?
@rjejr
I dont think there will be a need to ever "give up home consoles" ss literally all you would need to do would be to include a way to make the next handheld display on tv, whether by cord or wireless, and your handheld is now considered a home console, as well.
The Pirate Ship on Windwaker would of been epic ! Still nice to see both regular and omega levels in here ~
@LetsGoRetro But then it's not a home console, it's a portable that outputs to tv, or it's a hybrid. A "home console" is a console that only works on a tv. And no it's not the same, b/c no portable or hybrid will be able to output PS4 like graphics.
Now for Ntineod that really isn't an issue, b/c if you look at Starfox you aren't going to confuse it w/ Star Wars Battlefront anyway, and Mario Ultra Smash Tennis on Wii U looks barely different than a 3DS Tennis game. And they already have Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart on both. I'd say probably the only game they would lose is Xenoblade Chronicles X, b/c even though they managed to get Xenoblade Chronciles working on a new 3DS there is no comparison to the new game. So for Nintneod not having a home console probably doens't matter, b/c they really don't make what I would consider to be home console games - Last of Us, Uncharted, GTA, MGS. Cinematic spectacles. And Wii U doesn't get any ports anyway.
So yes, you will be able to continue to play Ninteod games on your tv, and they will probably continue to look just like all the other Ntinedo games, but they won't be home console games. Probably never have 7.1 sound, 5.1 if we are lucky.
I really don't know why they would even bother trying to compete in the home console market, unless they think they can reclaim 2nd from Microsoft. i think the Playstation brand is solidified for home videogames. And if NX were simply a home console, no portability, then it would probably be a nostalgia machine - NES and SNES games - at a lower cost, therefore still not competing w/ Playstation.
