In late 2014 Australia and New Zealand were the only countries outside of Japan to receive the New Nintendo 3DS ahead of the updated portable broadening out to the West in early 2015. Despite this it's taken a while for the whole range to make its way to the region, which is now being remedied.
It's been confirmed that the black version of the smaller model will arrive in Australia and New Zealand on 17th October; since launch only the white iteration had been released.
From 5th November the region will also receive the same Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer hardware bundle as elsewhere - this includes a white New 3DS with the game pre-installed, cover plates themed to the game and a 'special' amiibo card.
It's good to see Nintendo Australia beefing up the range in the region ahead of the vital Holiday season. Are you Down Under and tempted by any of these bundles?

I'm rather surprised noa has the balls to do white first and not black, their gonna then not actually release standalones if white sells like CR@P, thus proving their point that nobody wants a smaller model, and that their ideas are the best for us. cough Amiibo 3 packs cough

Well, looks like I'll have to get the black New3DS as well. Man, I already put off buying a New3DS from November last year to wait for the black's release, but I couldn't resist when Majora's Mask and MH4U came out so I got the white one. Ah well.
I would've bought the black N3DS if it came out here with the white one originally. A lot of the coverplates just look better on it. I don't regret getting the MM XL, but I'm bummed that I have no reason to get this one.
Yeah would've preferred the black model last year, but I've bought enough 3DS's in my lifetime to not need another one. Still have the Majora's Mask XL model I'm keeping as a collectors item while I use my regular white 3DS.
Good, now please NOA release the black new 3DS smaller model in the North America!
I prefer the White one, but more choices is a good thing. I just wish they made a silver one. Such an awesome color on my Nintendo DS Lite.
I really like the Animal Crossing cover plate which comes with the bundle. It's a much better design then on the Animal crossing New 3DS XL. There's no way I'd buy the smaller 3DS over the XL, but sometimes I really wish they had made cover plates for the XL as well.

I'm still pretty mad that we're not getting any smaller new 3DSs here in North America. I honestly don't know why they would do something like this. The larger ones just seem to large and clunky in my opinion. And plus, faceplates!
@Zvincze we DO have the white animal crossing bundle here in North America just no black model currently
