It's a Wednesday, which means it's Media Create chart results day in Japan. This week brought some notable new releases, with the 3DS faring particularly well while the Wii U hangs on to five figure hardware sales.
Kicking off with software, Yo-kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team / White Dog Squad - an action spin-off rather like the equivalent to the Pokemon Rumble titles - has continued the franchises' hugely impressive record in Japan. The two versions combined have stormed to top spot with a whopping 693,538 sales; Capcom's The Great Ace Attorney makes its début in second place with over 135,000 sales. The highest Wii U entry is still Splatoon, which has now passed 400,000 units in the Media Create data; results are below with lifetime sales in brackets.
- [3DS] Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team / White Dog Squad (Nintendo, 07/11/15) – 693,538 (New)

An excellent week for the 3DS, then, while Level 5 will be celebrating another smash hit for Yo-Kai Watch. If you're curious as to what Yo-Kai Watch Busters is all about, meanwhile, there's a trailer below.

Splatoon is still chugging along nicely I see.
Looks like the Wii U will fall to it's usual 4 figure crawl by next week. Shame.
Happy to see the 3DS still moving along though.
Animal crossing .. 4,000,000 next week !
Animal crossing .. 4,000,000 next week !
Why does it feel like there's a new Yokai Watch every other month? Lol
@MoonKnight7 it could could be worse. (looks at Xbox One's numbers) 😜
The Great Ace Attorney might sell well over here. Just rename it to something like "Ace Attorney Legends" and avoid a M rating. I'm sure there are lots of new fans after ace attorney trilogy and Professor Layton vs.
So does anybody who doesn't speak Japanese have any clue at all what was going on in that Busters trailer? Looked like fun, but I have absolutely no idea what it was about or what was going on.
Glad to see Spaltoon doing well. Are we expecting a Yoshi Wii U spike for tomorrow's release? I know the game will sell, who can resist this?
@rjejr that's so stinkin' adorable. I certainly cannot resist.
Brilliant to see Ace Attorney's success. Well over 100,000 on its debut, hopefully Capcom remembers the western fans and starts the localisation.
I think Im going to start plsying more Capcom game after RE Revalations so I'll try out Ace Attorney soon.
I'll be curious to see how Yokai Watch does in the US. Nintendo can use another franchise that grabs kids attention the way Pokemon has.
@cfgk24 I can't believe the long legs New Leaf has.
I wish they would localize Rhythm Tengoku for the west but leave all the Japanese things alone as its supposed to be a blast to play.
Damn...those Yokai Watch Buster sales are insane. No Pokémon spin-off has ever sold that much.
Seems like it took 6-7 weeks for Splatoon weekly sales to drop below 30,000. Very impressive legs (or tentacles) for a console game on the Wii U in Japan. Its performance outside of Japan should be similar. Definitely expecting Splatoon to reach 2 million units sold worldwide by late August (or earlier).
Upset that FE didn't top off as it should have......
@shigulicious We might have to resist if the US doesn't get the bundle. Reggie has turned me into a conspiracy nut case. Maybe the Manhattan store will get something special? We haven't been collecting amino but I'm making an exception for woolly Yoshi.
@-Godot Did that M rating on Dual Destinies scare fans away? I'm with you though on the potential new fans after Trilogy and Vs., but if it comes here it MUST be retail.
I simply cannot wait until the new Ace Attorney game gets here. If it ever does that is.
If The Great Ace Attorney doesn't get here I'll be upset forever.
The Great Ace Attorney in the US when, Capcom?
3DS is already saturated, theres no otherway around
Nintendo would be fool not to release a new handheld (actually 5 years and a half its a decent time for a handheld) in 2016 in Japan (Summer i guess)
@Artwark wait what ? its on record to be the second best selling FE game ever , behind Mystery of the Emblem*
Which pretty much means FE its here to stay.
Ah I need it!
@Faruko
If a new handheld was released summer of next year (which would imply NX is a handheld and that is what you are referring to), we would have known about it by now via E3. Not gonna happen.
If Nintendo does launch the NX next year, and knowing that they won't speak a word about it until next year, the earliest NX will launch is holiday 2016, with the latest being holiday 2017.
Yokai Watch doing crazy well, even if it's just a spin-off. Just imagine how well Yokai Watch 3 will do, it might surpass even Pokemon in Japan. With Monster Hunter X later this year, 3DS seems set to end this year pretty well in Japan.
Decent result for The Great Ace Attorney. Localisation please Capcom! Even digital only release is fine, I just want to play.
Splatoon still holding well, hope it has the staying power of Mario Kart 8 or better. Wii U keep decreasing, I hope it could stay above 10k, maybe Yoshi could help. Fire Emblem, I was hoping for better, but seems to have decent legs so far, hopefully it'll stay that way.
@rjejr
You are in luck my friend. Toys R Us has preorders for the bundle. Not sure if it is allowed to paste the link here
@sinalefa - Thanks, looking into that now. I want to find out if they charge me now or when it ships like Amazon does, I'm not paying in July for an Oct game. And their free shipping takes 6-8 days. Though if it's a Christmas gift for my kids that won't matter I suppose, but then I really don't want to pay for a game in July I won't be playing until late Dec.
im impress of how splatoon is going well!!!
@Faruko What, now that they're selling software like crazy for it? You build the user base, which is there now, and then you reap the benefit by selling software to them, that's how it works, and that's where the money is: software, not hardware. Also, that's why WiiU has been abandoned by most 3rd parties. But that's a story for another day.
I truly believe it would make much more effort to make a game like Ace Attorney than some cute animal fighting game but at margin 6:1, it is ridiculous. Im sure Youkai buster is a good game but i expect Ace to get better reception.
I need a money tree. importing taiko today..going to get AA later this month if i can snag the limited edition. ...must pay bills first...and buy groceries...must be responsible adult....
I really want YW Busters!
Very impressive opening week numbers for two spinoffs. Yokai Watch's 700K though is just bananas.
@Mr_Zurkon Rhythm Tengiku IS a blast to play! I'm sure it is being localised as we speak .....😊
@cfgk24 If it is being localized, it shouldn't take too long, as there is just a little bit of voice acting, and barely any significant text.
Just bought the collector's edition of GAA because I have no restraint...
