Nintendo's E3 Digital Event this year was a rather mixed affair, a rollercoaster ride of high peaks and low valleys. However you may have felt about it, there's no question that it was unsurprisingly light on third party content, with Yo-kai Watch, Skylanders Superchargers, and Hyrule Warriors Legends being the only games to receive any screen time. This was somewhat puzzling considering that big hitters like Devil's Third and Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden are due out later this year, but at least Nintendo has posted a fresh trailer of the latter.
Not a whole lot more has been revealed regarding the story, but we have received a good look at how the GamePad will act as the Camera Obscura the characters use to fight off the ghosts. Also, the official title for the West will be Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water and we can expect it in North America some time this Fall. Here's the trailer:
What do you think of the new Fatal Frame? Do you think Nintendo should've included this in the Digital Event? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

It was as if the Digital Event was designed to be "family friendly" - with more "mature" offerings left for later announcements.
This should of been in the direct in the first place smh

What the heck ^
Devil's Third and Fatal Frame "big hitters"? Don't count on it.
Either way, I'm certainly getting Fatal Frame.
Definitely looking forward to giving this a try! Never played any of the Fatal Frame series before so this will be new to me.
sniff sniff sniff Nintendo, Last years digital event showed off an Bayonetta 2 whimpers an M- rated title....this.....sniff this ....Why wasn't.... I can't....whimpers
Q: What do you think of the new Fatal Frame?
A: Intriguing. I've been enjoying a lot of Temco Koei games as of late, and so have interested in trying out Fatal Frame, particularly with how good this upcoming instalment looks.
A: Do you think Nintendo should've included this in the Digital Event?
A: YES! Oh gosh, they should have, it would add more diversity to an event which was drowning in too much Mario. It would have also fit perfectly with the focus of the event, that being 2015 releases. A real missed opportunity to show the game some more.
Wow, this looks much more exciting than most of the games in the Digital Event.
w00t that will get added to the list to buy this year!
It's like Pokemon snap with killer ghosts
Should have put this in the direct and it would have been slightly better.
it would have made me less upset seeing at least one good game during the show
I have no idea why this wasn't in the Direct. A niche game, for sure. But lots of people would have loved to see this trailer and release date for it.
Buying day one.
Yay, glad to see this is still happening.
I kind of wish they had put this in the Digital Event, be a little more daring.
Yeah, should be on Digital Events, seriously.
Will also release in Europe Autumm 2015 under the name Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water
Why didn't they show this at the Direct? Its not a mainstream title, sure, but its a far more attractive than that Metroid spin off. Hopefully it will get a direct down the road.
Looks good.
People asking for this in the Digital Event are missing the point. The problem wasn't a lack of good games - it was a lack of compelling new announcements. As much as I want Fatal Frame, it wouldn't change a thing about Nintendo's abysmal E3 showing.
Well this would have made the digital event quite a bit better.
Anyone doing their job as a journalist and asking about censorship? Literally all that matters at this point.
well finally some good news
Should of been but the digital event was clearly family friendly which at this point whatever. Nintendo wont push this and neither Devils Third, and they will flop which is sad. But I will purchase both.
At which date does it release in Europe?
I love fatal frame and would be interested in this game but the gimicky gamepad stuff puts me off
Now, the reason I bought a WiiU.
This might be my kind of game. I'll keep my eyes open for this
Love it love it.
Remind me why this was less important to announce in their conference than talking about a yarn Yoshi diorama an employee knitted?
Eh, Who cares what they included in the presentation or didn't include. It doesn't change the fact that we're still getting these games whether they announced it to the world or not. And frankly I'm past the point of caring what the rest of the world knows or does.
This and Fast Racing Neo trailer could have made it a lot better show.
E3 has not finished yet ...
i think that the main "conference" of company is one of the few pieces of adve1rtisemnt that people who arent even fans might watch, and nintendo simply forgot to show some of the most appealing games to the hardcore crowd that will be coming this year, like Devils Third.
Awesome!!!
Wow, I'm in shock, in a good way. Looks like I've got another Wii U game besides Rodea to look forward to. Can't wait.
Oh, it's so gorgeous. I'm afraid I must echo the lamentations above and wonder why this wasn't in the presentation. Still an already announced title, but a much more hotly anticipated one than Mario & Luigi and Also Mario Again But in Paper Form.
I dont get what happened with the Event, Why did we find out Platinum was making Star Fox at the Treehouse? If they had so little to annouce why did they do a separate smash and Micro direct before E3?
Well, we already knew this was coming. No need to put this in the Event since it's just another old game waiting for a western release without a proper release date. Hope it's September.
This looks fantastic, finally the gamepad will be good for something reasonable.
Why on earth did they leave this out of the Digital Event? To focus on family friendly material??? Bad call Nintendo, bad call.
This is the best Wii U game coming this year.
@MoonKnight7
Yes, bad call. I agree with you.
Probably they left it out because of the ESRB Rating. This game is M+17, so instead they decided to show Skylanders that is targeted for kids.
Probably was left out because it's too old.. it was released in Japan almost 10 months ago.
I'm usually not into these type games but I think I'm picking up Fatal frame. it looks good on a system Starved for decent software.
@Mattiator Cuz Nintendo.
loving the line up..getting all the games for wii u..fun year!
