Hyrule Warriors Legends may have only had a brief mention in the Nintendo Digital Event, and had been leaked last week anyway, but there has been a surprise celebration of its announcement in the form of free DLC for Hyrule Warriors in Wii U.
It comes in the form of an outfit for Link, which is a rather fetching Classic Tunic.
Hyrule Warriors has had a lot of DLC, but there's always room for more!
Thanks to MikeW for the heads up!

Available now?
Well, that's not bad I guess.
Been meaning to get back to this, still need to unlock the playable giant (Cuckoo?)
Sounds good to me.
Oh thank you god, just thank god, Nintendo finally taking an blasted hint on how things should be. I mean the "Golden Ban" at the end of the hat is too much to look at; but at least we get one step closer to seeing Link as he is from the NES games.
It would even be better if Nintendo fixed his nose and hair and shield emblem. They also need to bring back monks chanting and the Mirror Shield from the OOT first release.
Seriously hurray Nintendo did something that is actually worth while and makes me want to spend money on them.
Such generosity lol
Can I get it now?
How... Random? But could this be a sign of more to come? A season two of DLC with the Wind Waker content? I mean I thought the DLC was done but they just proved that wrong so... I don't even know now.
Awesome! I'll be popping this disc in tonight!
It's not up yet
I want this game so much, but I don't want to miss Tetra and Daphnes Hyrule and I won't be buying the game twice. I want to take advantage of the sale, but if I can't buy those two characters, then I guess I'll end up getting the 3DS game with the undoubtedly diminished scale...
A nice unexpected surprise from Tecmo-Koei and Nintendo. To be fair this costume show why Link's tunic has always been redesigned for 3D titles (seriously, on Warriors' Link that's a dress, period >.>;;; ), but any excuses is good to get back and doing an extra battle in the game XD
@Captain_Gonru oh I am certain there's more money to be made in DLC if they want to. But I don't think many people will double dip on this game (maybe I'm wrong), so making more DLC could keep Wii U players happy, and then including it all on the 3DS when it comes out would give that value as a complete version... Of course, that makes sense and I don't expect that of Nintendo right now. But hey, I'm hoping this surprise DLC is a good sign, maybe they'll make some announcement later this week...
Hyrule Warriors DLC is the best! (Mario Kart 8 DLC was also very good)
As usual with Nintendo this e3, that came out of nowhere.
I haven't spent any money on HW DLC, although I got all of MK8's. Extra characters are less interesting.
@Captain_Gonru - The Wii U web browser is passable, and the Gamepad is ok as an input device, but it's too much work to go look things up on.
And lets face it, even if I did look it up, am I really going to type it correctly anyway?
He looks really great in that outfit but I think I'm done with this game forever. Twilight and Termina Maps are mostly unfinished but I cannot stomach anymore.
Looks amazing I cannot wait to play =)
Now that I think more about it, its like: Thank you Wii u owners for owning the game and buying all the dlc. As a thank you we give the 3DS owners all the DLC FOR FREE! How's that?!
It's out now.
I hope this means they'll be supporting the Wii U version further.... and not make the new content exclusive to the 3DS or those who connect their game to 3DS.....
Zelda 2/LttP Link? Awesome. I love old school Link.
Question does anyone Know if Hyrule Warriors for 3DS will run on the Old 3DS or do we need to buy a New 3DS to play it? I'm guessing we need to buy a New Nintendo 3DS since the system they are using in the trailer is the New 3DS.
A silver lining for sure...
Nice. This outfit will work well with the 8-bit Wooden Sword & Shield.
@Windy It will run on the regular 3DS (it doesn't have a "New exclusive" box art http://koei.wikia.com/wiki/Zelda_Musou:_Hyrule_All-Stars ). I wouldn't be surprised if it made use of the New 3DS features though.
I don't think we're gonna see the "Old" 3DS in promotional material anymore, whether or not the games are exclusive.
@Captain_Gonru - make a fist and aim for the "N" key
Not a bad idea, saves me time, and it couldn't really be any worse, could it?
@Tsurii Oops, you are right. LttP Link has a cross stitching under the neck line. Apart from that, they are the same though.
This is cool, but also creepy
I finally bit the bullet and bought the game since it was on sale. It has been a pleasant surprise and brought back some good PS1/PS2 feelings.
