While life's a little tough for Sonic fans at the moment - including this writer - it's worth remembering that this generation of Nintendo hardware has (arguably) delivered a decent game with the blue blur. We're referring, of course, to Wii U exclusive Sonic Lost World - there's also a 3DS game that isn't as good - which has some strong moments while also delivering unlikely but oddly entertaining DLC related to The Legend of Zelda and Yoshi.
It's not without its flaws, and it seems like a promising idea that needs more polish and development, but it at least tries to provide a Sonic game of decent quality. Its approach to cylindrical levels does open it up to bugs, though, and a rather interesting new video from A+Start highlights some entertaining glitches. We've covered this series of videos before, and this one's particularly enlightening in showing how players are achieving some of the crazy level completion times in the leaderboards - not with conventional runs, obviously.
It's worth a watch, then, and it may be worth trying to trigger some of these crazy glitches ourselves.

Atleast its far better than Sonic Boom.....
Makes me wish that SEGA looks at freedom planet and rehashes that game as a Sonic game and release it on the Wii U/3DS somehow.
LOL that bad? I'm thinking of getting this along with SASRT on the next sale. I guess I'll just get Racing Transformed.
It's a decent game like. It can be pretty frustrating but I had fun with what I enjoyed of it!
Sonic Lost World wasn't Colours/Generations calibre, but it's still a decent game and worth a playthrough. There's just a few levels that I never want to revisit again. That snowball level being the main one.
The 3DS version starts off with promise and soon... oh wow. The levels just go on for too damn long, it's like I'm playing Team Chaotix in Sonic Heroes.
This game is terrible... I got it free with the Mario Kart 8 promotion but still regret it. I should have taken Wario Ware instead. Lost Worlds is not only frustrating, it's controls are very bad and most of the bosses are annoying. I only had some fun in the first levels...
I know others disgree, but I thought it was far better than decent. I thought it was spectacular. Possibly my favorite after Sonic 2.
I had to try the time-freeze glitch, it's really hilarious as it seem and, luckily, very easy to get XD
I did not encounter one glitch while playing this game normally. Those glitches seem hard to pull off. I wonder how people find those glitches.
Lost World was a huge disappointment. I should've just listened to everyone and not have bought it... 😑
Alright, so we've seen two DLC additions to the Sonic Lost World, namely the Yoshi and Zelda stages. Weren't we told that there would be a total of three?
@chiptoon I haven't played a lot of Sonic games, but I don't think this one is that bad. But then again I actually really liked Sonic Colors, which is why I bought this game. The pacing of going between the 3D segments, and 2D side scrolling seemed to work for me. If it had been largely side scrolling, I probably wouldn't have bought it. Maybe I'm not that big of a Sonic fan to be a harsh critic of the series.
@Ricube Warioware is fun, but just a collection of mini-games. I don't regret buying that game either, but in going back and trying it out again last weekend it had a difficult time keeping my attention. I ended up just playing the puzzle piecing game.
@Nico07 What I meant is just that after playing the Sonic demo I thought it might be fun, but after playing the full game I realized that it's not a good game and Sonic absolutely deserves better. Anyway, it's just my opinion. Maybe I'm just becoming older and the my gaming habits are changing...
It's funny how this game looks like a godsend after Sonic Boom. I have to admit, I did pick this one up a few months ago and I did actually enjoy my play through. It didn't have the finesse and technical grace that Mario Galaxy had, but I do think this game deserve some props for creativity.
I bought this game day 1, and haven't regretted a minute of it. I absolutely love going into it occasionally and messing around. it definitely became easier once they patched it and started giving away lives generously.
Lost World was decent and provided an enjoyable Sonic experience, but Colours was the best.
Sonic Color is the best 2D sonic to me, and Lost World us the best 3D sonic.
I played Sonic Adventure 2 recently for the first time, and it is just not up to today's high standard. I played Sonic Adventure 1 fifteen years ago and it was excellent though. So I really don't know why people keep saying Lost World was bad.
This reminds me. It might not be the best Sonic game available but I really enjoyed the demo for this game and it was a driving force in me buying my Wii U, along with the video for Mario 3D World. I should really get around to picking up a copy of this.
It says a lot for a sonic game to have fun glitches instead of just falling through the ground and clipping into walls like every other 3D game in the series.
Wait ... you mean there are glitches? In a Sonic game? Who would have thought?
Lost World is really horrible game, it's not as tragic buggy crap as the abomination that was Sonic Boom, but oh man I hate the controls in Lost World. The homing attack is the worst idea ever to be done to Sonic games.
Especially since it can't be turned off and the gameplay is built on that annoying stupid feature of an attack.
