We're big fans of Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones here at Nintendo Life, a Wii U eShop exclusive that combines solid platforming, a Metroidvania world and terrific level design; we awarded it a handsome 9 out of 10 in our review.
A key feature that we appreciated in that review is the local co-op, which utilises the GamePad touch screen and inputs for clever asynchronous play; we described it as "the most cohesive example of the system's capabilities yet". We didn't say that lightly, and we certainly feel that playing this title with a friend can give it a whole new life.
Curve Studio's latest video for Stealth Inc 2 covers the GamePad's in-game features, showing the menus and map in single-player and, more importantly, the varied and clever options in co-op. Check it out below and let us know if you've picked this game up, or if you're planning to in future.
If you liked this video be sure to check out part 1 and part 2 of this series. Also, please don't forget to subscribe to Nintendo Life on YouTube.

@ThomasBW84
Is it just me (on mobile) or every last part (subscribe now part) of NLife videos are too loud?
edit:
yep I just tried it here on my Wii U. Anyway, I'll get this game tonight to play this weekend. Shovel Knight will have to wait a bit.
I got this last night along with the Pikmin shorts but the downloads have not finished. Provided that I beat Bayo 2 this Saturday (Chapter XIV now), I will be giving this a spin.
Well that sold me, all the co-op options are amazing. These guys really utilized the gamepad well.
Looks good,but i cant afford to spend any more as i m waiting for smash bros.
This game's co-op got me to finally get a pro controller
I have to agree; I was on the fence about this game until I heard about the co-op mode from this video. Amazing!
I was going to buy it today, but now I'm buying it NOW!
And that video was too amazing for me. I had to stop it so that I wouldn't waste any more of my life without that game.
This game is AMAZING! I got stuck at one spot for a long time without being able to figure it out, but now I'm up to speed again. I enjoying it soooo much, even when I can't figure things out right away! It probably has the best Miiverse implementation of ANY Wii U game, and the Gamepad support is incredibly well-implemented as well.
This video includes a huge spoiler (the map). I'll use in my hunt to find the last test chambers. The map doesn't show all the secret test chambers though, which is good.
Definitely going to get this game and I see myself enjoying the co op mode for real.
This video makes me want to buy the game now
I had this on my list to buy 'soon' as I haven't even opened Bayonetta 1&2 yet, but after seeing the video, and learning it was a UK developer, I'll be buying later today!
Looks great!
Does there happen to be a no blood mode?
I'm totally interested in the game, but not the blood. That's what is keeping me from picking it up, but if there was an option to turn thw blood off I'd go buy now .
Co-op looks really fascinating!
Seeing the co-op GamePad features in this game make me wish the Wii U had more horsepower under the hood. Could you imagine co-op feature like this implemented in a graphically intensive AAA 3D game? Scanning ahead in a large over world field on the GamePad while the Pro controller player preps for battle, like a Battalion Wars type of game.
@cyrus_zuo First of all, thanks for the kind praise, it means a lot!
I'm afraid there isn't a way to turn the blood off.
The blood serves as useful feedback for when you die, as well as being a means to indicate dangerous areas to the player (with blood on the walls, etc.) It's also a significant part of the narrative, these are expendable lifeforms that live their entire lives in cruel conditions.
Making them die frequently while carrying out trivial duties such as testing toys is intentional to encourage feelings of sympathy and to motivate the player to rescue them. If it helps you reconsider, it's cartoon violence and the clones are intentionally non-human to make this more acceptable.
Thanks again for the kind comments!
@sam_robinson Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to respond! I've watched quite a few of the videos on the game and see the intent of the communication through blood, it is just too much for my tastes.
Did you consider a different color as an option to turn on (Purple? Yellow?) something that wasn't so blood like (Yellow might be fluid color of the clones). Further might be the option for "flower mode" where flowers pop out and cover the walls in the same way the blood did.
I'm sure I'm a small subset of your potential audience, and probably not really meaningful. I'm an adult who plays games, but I only buy Nintendo consoles b/c the content Nintendo's consoles offer best fits my personal tastes. Stealth 2 runs just outside of my tastes due to the blood splattering.
That's just me though.
Wish you guys all the best and hope the game sells fantastically well. If you happen to update to address the concern I'll be the first one in line (and perhaps the only one...I get that so, I have no expectations! )
@sam_robinson
I forgot that you posted here. I wanted to personally thank you for being part of a gaming community, thus listening to and addressing feedback.
And I also wanted to thank everyone involved in this game for actually giving Wii U a chance and making a game that uses its features rather than cutting content because of its limitations. I wish you the best too!
Awesome game, haven't tried Co-op yet as I got stuck while unlocking levels lol. I generally hate puzzle games but the Stealth Inc games are so cleverly creative I can overcome my usual puzzle game frustration and play them.
@cyrus_zuo There was actually some concept art drawn up at some point of more Nintendo friendly "blood," but they were more like sparkles than a different colour liquid, so you aren't completely alone in your tastes.
It's not a bad idea, but this entire game was made in 10 months on a limited budget! It was incredibly stressful at times and I'm somewhat amazed by what we managed to do in that time, so we didn't have much time to tackle smaller details.
Since we were building on the engine we'd already made for the first game, the blood was already in there, and it would have required more time and work to remove/replace, so this made it not feasible.
It's certainly something we can consider if we ever do another game that has a lot of blood! Thanks for the feedback
@sinalefa Thank you! Everyone at Curve really appreciates that.
We really wanted to push the GamePad. We were maybe a little paranoid in our approach as we really wanted to impress Nintendo with what we could with it. Now it seems we may have overcompensated with all these features, but we're very glad we did it all!
I actually kick myself because I didn't mention Miiverse comments in this video, which is another hilarious feature. You can post Miiverse comments/drawings at any point in the game, and they show up to other players when they play! I was posting some drawings around the game just today hehe
Wii U is an excellent console, and getting to make a game for it, let alone a Metroidvania game, was a huge privilege! Glad you like what we're doing! Thank you.
@sam_robinson
Wow! Only ten months, eh? That is VERY impressive for what might be THE best indie game on the eshop. I had unrealistically high hopes for this game anyway and it surpassed every one of them.
My sole complaint is that the controls, most noticably the hit detection, feels a little off at times. This is especially true with certain community levels that have been designed for pixel perfect precision. It at times puts this game on the wrong side of trial and error. Other than that somewhat minor nitpick this is one of Wii U's best games. Keep up the good work guys!
@sam_robinson How about adding a bonus clip to your upcoming level editor video, where you describes the Miiverse feature? Or mention the Miiverse feature in a separate video about "some other things about Stealth Inc 2"?
Thanks for a fantastic game!
I bought this game the day it launched (I always support a good game on Wii U, otherwise we won't see more of them), but honestly I haven't had time to play it yet. With the onslaught of games lately across multiple platforms, combined with my recent desire to play every Wii game I never finished, most recently Metroid Other M, I've even got retail games I haven't touched yet.
But hopefully after I finish Bayonetta 2 (just beat the first one the other day) and Lords of the Fallen, and Sunset Overdrive, and once Smash, Captain Toad, Mario Kart 8 DLC, GTAV, Dragon Age Inquisition, Far Cry 4 and Halo Master Chief arrive, and once I've had a chance to experiment with them... hopefully then I'll be able to sit down and give this game a go lol...
I still need to finish the first one on Vita. Heck it'd be nice to see the first one brought to Wii U- I'd certainly buy it again
@Pahvi Yes, a patch is in the works. Will look into this issue. At the moment, we're collating bugs so we can try and deal with them all in one patch, so thank you for the feedback.
It warms my heart to see developers really make use of the gamepad with neat little features like this!
