Last week's Nintendo Download Update had some unexpected drama related to budget shooter XType Plus, when it arrived on the European store and an online leaderboard error caused some Wii U systems to freeze. It was pulled from the eShop within a few hours, and due to time zone differences in store updates the title was withdrawn from the North American update before it arrived.
It was an unfortunate incident, though earlier this week developer PhobosLab provided a Miiverse update that the issue was almost resolved. The studio's now been in touch with us to let us know that the game is back up on the European Wii U eShop, and when we checked it had prominent shelf space next to the recent Hyrule Warriors Direct. A North American release date is still pending, and we'll see whether all is processed quick enough for it to squeeze into tomorrow's update. Below are the developer's exact words to us.
The crashing bugs in the Nintendo Web Framework have been fixed and the game is back in the EU eShop right now!
I'm still waiting for a concrete date for the North American release; I hope it wont be too far off. I'll let you know when I hear something!
It's a pity that this title had a troubled launch, as we thoroughly enjoyed it when awarding 8/10 in our review; we even called it "The Citizen Kane of Web Framework games on the Wii U".
Are you planning to pick this up now that the system freezing bug has been resolved?

So...I guess it's not being released tomorrow, then. Next week?
Hrmm. I haven't really been following this, but I've never really tried a game like this either for quite some time, I think I've only sorta played things like this back on the old Atari which I think didn't really have so many bullets and whatnot. I might give it a shot. Good to know they fixed the bug!
Wish it was tomorrow. >.>
Looking forward to a US release
Nice! I'll pick it up tomorow with Scram Kitty.
I was planning on watching a movie tonight. Still might, but not unless this is the type of game I'll enjoy in short bursts.
Loaded it up for a quick game earlier and the patch installed
That quick go then turned into an hour and a half as I attacked the leaderboards...couldn't even quite scrape onto the Classic Mode one but I'm propping up the Plus Mode leaderboard near the bottom
Well worth the £2.69 it cost.
If this lands tomorrow, this is going to be one busy week on the Wii U eShop.
Oh god, I'm so stupid! I didn't realize before that the guy behind this is also part of the team behind the Impact.js engine it's based on! @_@
