May has come and gone, and we're still dealing with the sizeable drop of games it delivered right at the very end there. With Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and the triple-hit of the XCOM 2, BioShock and Borderlands Legendary Collections, we've got quite enough to be getting on with as things stand.
However, there are some big physical releases coming to Switch over the coming weeks, too, including a surprise first-party title announced very recently. We've taken the liberty of highlighting a few upcoming Switch games below. And of those of who have held off pulling the trigger on the digital version of The Wonderful 101: Remastered, you'll find the delayed physical version listed, too.
Let's have a look at some of the biggest games coming to Switch in June and July, shall we?

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics - 5th June
Published by Nintendo, Clubhouse Games was an unassuming little DS title which amassed a huge following, so while it's hardly the huge summertime megaton Switch game you might have been hoping for in June, we've got high hopes for it! With a large assortment of classic board and tabletop games to choose from--including Poker, Slot Cars, Go and Chess--Switch's local multiplayer focus means this Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics collection could shine brighter than ever before.
There's even a sneaky little 52nd game in there for good measure. Deal us in.
Burnout Paradise Remastered - 19th June
It’s taken a while, but the remastered version of Burnout Paradise is finally power-sliding to Switch. Some people will tell you that this is still the best open world racer ever made. There’s plenty of competition in that genre on other platforms, but the starting grid on Switch isn’t quite so packed, so we’re thrilled to finally get behind the wheel of this classic on a Nintendo console.
The Remastered edition includes a whole bunch of DLC packs from the original game, 60 FPS gameplay and some Switch-exclusive touch-based map control. Perhaps most importantly, you can now play it on the bus / train / toilet, so there’s a good chance that this could be the best ever version of the game. Look out for our review.
The Wonderful 101: Remastered - 30th June
The glorious return of this previously Wii U exclusive comes following a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign from developer PlatinumGames. Along the way it broke through some Stretch Goals meaning that The Wonderful 101: Remastered will feature additional content. This means that there will be something new for veteran fans of the original game, although we imagine most of them contributed to the Kickstarter already.
If you missed out on The Wonderful 101 first time round, this is the perfect way to catch up on Switch. Of course, if you happy to forgo a little physical cartridge you could be playing the game right this second! Check out our Wonderful 101: Remastered review for the Nintendo Life verdict.
Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise - 10th July
A Switch exclusive, this survival horror sequel to the 10-year-old original (which arrived on Nintendo's console just last year in its Origins guise) is hotly anticipated by fans of famed Japanese developer SWERY's cult original. We say 'sequel', but it's a prequel, too, as you head to the town of Le Carré to uncover clues and solve a surreal murder mystery.
And if the spooky story all gets a bit too much, you can chill the beans right down with some bowling or skateboarding - in fact, the latter is a great way to get around town. As you might expect given this game's heritage, you'd do well to expect the unexpected with this one, and we're intrigued to find out more.
Paper Mario: The Origami King - 17th July
Who needs Nintendo Directs, huh? This game's existence had been rumoured, but it wasn't revealed until the middle of May. From everything we've seen so far, it's shaping up to be a beautiful entry in the Paper Mario series and is supposedly taking a leaf from the books of the beloved older N64 and GameCube entries.
We'll be finding out how this one unfolds in a matter of weeks. Until then, we're just going to keep looking at the gorgeous screenshots.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in June and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
And finally here are a selection of the finest Switch accessories coming up in June and beyond, for your consideration.
So that's it for June and July - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've pre-ordered any of these goodies!

@KoopaTheQuick It's checkpoint based and it works wonderfully. You hit the brakes at a stop light with a racing event and the game generates a "track" across the city streets by adding numbered checkpoints.
@KoopaTheQuick "How does an open world racing game work though?!"
It doesn't.
I love the Burnout series, but Paradise was a huge disappointment for me. I do think open world racing works in the NFS Most Wanted games, but Burnout Paradise lacks direction, purpose, or actual track design. It's too free form for its own good, and I quickly lost motivation.
Some people love it though...
Didn't Ghostbusters come out last year?
Ghostbusters the Video Game Remastered out on 17th July 2020?
Am I missing something? I thought it'd been out for months.
@Link41x - beat me to it, you posted while I was typing!
I'm considering picking up the SpongeBob game (never played one before). The lower price has me wondering about the amount of content - anyone able to advise on how long the campaign would last a noob, or how replayable it is?
@sketchturner Kinda agree with you re. Burnout Paradise. I found it great fun for the first 5-10 hours, but didn't find much reason to stick with it. I can't be bothered to learn the maps in open world racers.
This was years ago though on PC, so I've never tried the remastered version. If it ever halves in price physically I'll probably pick it up one day. Seem to remember getting the PC version for peanuts or free, so I guess they might deserve a few quid from me.
@Link41x I thought that when I seen it in the list.
Only one that interests me is paper Mario and maybe burnout but I’ll wait to see some reviews and if there are any bugs
Clubhouse games and Paper Mario are day one. Will get Burnout when it hits a more reasonable price point. Pass on the rest but a lot of great variety coming to the switch this summer which is awesome!
@Link41x It did. Sitting on my shelf.
I'm interested in PGA as a deffinite. House Flipper I'm curious about, but it looks like the type of game that will have issues.
@KoopaTheQuick Yep, other CPU cars ...or other players if you're online.
Was gonna wait for Burnout Paradise but caved in and bought the Bioshock Collection instead. That'll probably tide me over for quite some time, in time for Paper Mario when it releases.
Also eyeing up Outer Worlds too...
@Mii_duck I think what’s happening is that GameStop no longer has exclusivity on the physical release of Ghostbusters. This is evidenced by the AMAZON link below it.
This threw me off a bit too! GameStop was the only place you could get the physical version of Ghostbusters so now I think it’s merely been opened up to Amazon.
@ChromaticDracula - ah, right. Thanks for clearing that up, though the link says available now for delivery (in the UK).
Edit- and I see @PhilKenSebben already has a copy.
@KoopaTheQuick @sketchturner I had a lot of fun just driving around the city, exploring, weaving in and out of traffic, and causing spectacular wrecks. The actual racing is the weakest part, but I still had a great time overall.
How can burnout be £45!
It’s a joke!
The monthly NintendoLife findraising drive via affialiate links.
Ghostbusters coming out again?
@sketchturner Not only do you have great taste in profile icons but I agree with your summary of Paradise too. Burnout was one of my very favourite franchises but I don't think the speed translated well to open-world courses at all.
@KoopaTheQuick If you have online, give Asphalt 9 a try. It is free and I personally love it. Gives me Burnout 2 vibes.
Good thing Nintendo finally woke up and got Paper Mario announced before it released, it's certainly the main attraction the next 2 months. But it is summer, and summer is always slow. And XC was just Friday.
Really hoping for the Mario announcements and other Nintendo published titles soon...
I'd really like a shot at Burnout Paradise but the price has put me off. I'm guessing as it's EA there's a good chance of a reduction at some stage, and I have patience on my side. I'm not really that interested in Paper Mario, although I felt very much the same about Animal Crossing. I ended up sticking in a pre-order and 120 hours of island life later I'll admit that I was wrong.
@JH64
Indeed, that is a complete joke. Here, it's going to be sold for an incredible $65. Which is only a bit lower than brand new AAA title release price. That's not even a joke. That's a freaking insult.
I mean, I bought that remaster last year on Xbox One for about $5. And I've been playing it on Steam as well since forever, and even on a GPD Win device, so playing on the crapper/bus anywhere isn't a new feature for me.
I was interested in buying it again for the Switch, not having my GPD Win anymore, and because I still love that game, but I was expecting something more along the lines of $30. Maybe a bit lower, as this is a port of a game that's been made available on almost every platform under the sun since its release.
At $65, this is horrible in terms of value, UNLESS you've never played the game and still see this as a completely new title. But even so, I think you could do FAR BETTER with your money than buying this at that price. Borderlands, Bioshock and Xcom 2 collections are all priced lower than this over here, and offer a LOT more value for less money (provided these games are your cup of tea). Burnout Paradise was sold for about the same price when it was released 12 YEARS AGO. Asking the same price today is insulting.
Great game, just horrible pricing. But then, that's EA. What were you expecting?
Wow... I thought this year was sparse of games but they all seem to come out this month. 3 games I'm picking up (Clubhoise Games, W101 and Spongebob for the kids) and 4 maybes... thankfully the lockdown has curbed my spending so I have a bit to spare on these but still...
Clearly there is nothing more FUN than $300 for a nearly 20 year old Spongebob game.
I need to find out more about Paper Mario before I let myself get too excited. I so want it to be great.
I'll be getting Friends of Mineral Town and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Summer in Mara has promise too.
Not a bad summer for games.
Borderlands collection 3 games(hundreds and hundreds of hours) 50 bucks.... burnout paradise 1(roughly 200 hours if you just want to mess around) 50 bucks... you already know which is the better deal.
Seriously though I have 600 hours on BL2(pc) and only did 2 characters(1 OP8) only managed 500 hours with paradise after getting the diamond car, and messing around with my in games stats (barrel rolls, stunt runs, and takedowns) just to do nothing else... the remaster came out I made maybe 70 hours on it before I just gave up.
The Spongebob collectors packs are cool, but why the heck are they 5 times as much money? It’s not out of the question that they are more expensive, but I could buy a used switch lite with that money.
@KoopaTheQuick its so good! Stoplights in intersections are where the different events are. Trust me, its totally going to be worth it. For sure it is my favorite racing game of all time.
Paper Mario and the Outer Worlds for me!
Stillllll waiting for a release date on RPG Maker MV
More remakes of games I already own on other platforms.
@RPGamer I was specifically joking about the most expensive collector's edition that calls itself "F.U.N. Edition".
(and yes I know at least enough that F.U.N. itself was a reference to a gag on the show.)
It wasn't intended to be mean to anyone who is seriously interested.
@KoopaTheQuick Given this is a Burnout game the real pleasure comes in watching your car smash into things in real time and turning it into a twisted heap of rubble. You can even try and crash as many other cars as possible.
RPG maker on switch? How can that work?
