Review Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2) - Samus Returns In Prime Form
Sy-luxurious
I’ve been waiting a long time for this. Ever since Metroid Prime 3: Corruption ended on a slight cliffhanger (provided you obtained the 100% completion rating) back in 2007, I’ve been wondering where exactly Nintendo and Retro Studios might take the series next. 18 years would follow, and that’s an awful long time to formulate an...

News Metroid Prime 4's "Combined Sales" Have Surpassed One Million, Nintendo Confirms

There was some shock earlier this week when Nintendo's financials seemingly confirmed that neither the Switch or Switch 2 version of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond had cracked one million sales. So, how about the combined figures? Well, Game File journalist Stephen Totilo has now reached out to...

As part of its latest financial report, Nintendo has showcased the best-selling Switch and Switch 2 games so far. Talking Point Metroid Prime 4 And The Burden Of Being 'Good Enough'
When legacy becomes a liability
After nearly two decades of dormancy for the series and an infamously drawn-out development cycle, it feels slightly surreal to now have Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in the rearview. The game arrived under immense expectation, and it’s fair to say it ultimately proved more divisive than Nintendo and developer Retro...
Opinion I'm Happy amiibo Survived The Console Jump, But These Unlocks Are Getting Silly
You and amiiboth
If there was one name I wasn't expecting to see crop up in the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal Direct, it was Kirby Air Riders amiibo. Smash Ultimate and its DLC fighters had propped up the amiibo release schedule for the best part of five years, and its conclusion lined up so neatly with us all boarding the Switch 2 hype train that I...

Opinion Metroid Prime 4 Does This One Thing Better Than Any Other Nintendo Game
Remappy days
The long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally released in December, and well, not everyone is happy with it. The game’s focus on NPCs and a literal desert of an open world did not resonate with gamers as well as Retro Studios had hoped. I hate to admit it, but I agree with the loud people on the internet. None of the people...

Preview Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Great, But I Want To Kill One Of Its Characters
Feisty one, you are
I recently got to go hands-on with the Switch 2 Edition of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and not just to play that opening section that everyone and their mum has played at this point. No, I got to play over an hour of one of the game’s earlier parts proper, once Samus has appropriately lost all her abilities because the plot...
Hands On Metroid Prime 4: Beyond On Switch 2 Is Staggering
Beyond expectations
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond being cross-gen was inevitable. After a near two-decade wait for a sequel and a handful of delays, including a return from series developer Retro Studios, the game needed to land with a bang. And boy did it when it re-emerged during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct. We've seen it twice since, and each time...
About The Game

5/10 from me for a game that is a total mixed bag. It peaks way earlier than I expected, and early on I thought the negative reviews were crazy. It's painful just how far it fell after the third main area, which had some of the best atmosphere in any Metroid game. From there Metroid Prime 4 stumbles through poor characters and sloppy writing, time-padding end-game quests, and a handful of boring and downright bad bosses with a deeply unsatisfying ending. A great OST and amazing visuals are band-aids on a game that's clearly suffering from a messy vision and long development.
I give rate 10/10 best like new HALO Games and Feels like Xbox. This my favorite game, but I really love it.
