Review Legend of the River King (3DS eShop / GBC)
Nothing smells fishy here
Natsume is mostly known for its Harvest Moon games, but what you might not know is that there is another long-running series from the same developer - in fact, its first game predates the first Harvest Moon by 6 years. Legend of the River King is one of only four games in this series released outside Japan, and it's now...
About The Game
Embark on a dangerous quest to catch the fish that can save your sister's life.
You'll need all your angling and survival skills to succeed in this unique fishing RPG. On a perilous quest to capture a mysterious and mystical fish, you'll deploy a variety of tackle in both quiet lakes and raging rapids.
Along the shores, dangerous animals are a constant threat. To get supplies, you'll sell some of your catch at village markets. You can also try your hand at raising a pet fish from embryo to adult, and watch as it grows and even changes species!

looks neat
I played the original, and it definitely struck me as something innovative for the time. Combining fishing with fantasy RPG elements was a pretty nice change for the genre as a whole — it's more like Rune Factory than vanilla Harvest Moon for that reason. It's too bad that the later entries in the series didn't stick with the "battle for bait" system, but with Rune Factory doing well... who knows?
Oh man so tempting! I've never played this before but fishing+RPG? Awesome! I don't know if I can keep my wallet shut till its review arrives... I'm a big fan of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, is this game something for me?
@AyeHaley I am also a huge fan of both Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, so much like you, I decided to pick this one up. Whilst, it isn't Animal Crossing, nor is it Harvest Moon, it is great fun if you like either series. Do give it a try!
Great game as someone who likes fishing in real life, I got it on the 3ds eshop before it closes.
