If you don't mind me asking, what is it you want to see on the VC that would change your opinion of it?.

I love the VC, I rarely buy WiiWare. Its just those one game weeks really concern me that they are going to end VC by the end of this year. I want to at least see most of the Namco arcade titles they have in Japan over here.

1. Allow translations for imports.
2. Try to get licences for games that need them like the mother series and the capcom disney games.
3. Try to emulate super fx games
4. Add more nintendo64 games to the vc regularly. The lack of nintendo64 games is probably due to lack of third party support and nintendo want to spread ou their games. To solve this nintendo could find a way to encourage third parties to add their nintendo64 games to vc.

The talk about hating Castlevania kinda proves a bit of my point. There will always be someone who dislikes a present game (even Donkey Kong 64 and Mother 2), so why not give more in order to cater to those with "special" tastes?

Actually, I like Bowser AND hairy bellies!

They do allow it. It's just that no one has been bothered to do it yet. Translating a game isn't free.

I have to say I'm impressed that Nintendo bothered to even go as far as they did with the VC, heres reasons why you should just stay happy with VC:
1. Imports, they could have said no to imports and just kept it to where all the games had to be released in that region before showing up on VC.
2.Sin and Punishment 2. Chances are that if they hadn't released the original on the service, then we wouldn't have seen its sequel make it across the ocean or even made.
3. Obscure titles. Honestly did the majority of you know that Cho An Ki (Or Whatever it is) existed before the VC, or even for that matter the TG16.
4. Adding new systems, they could have been content with their own systems and genesis and TG16, but no, they went on expanding the library adding Neo-Geo, C64, Arcade, and Master System games to the service, nice.
5. They bothered to even make the service, they could have stuck with games and eventually made WiiWare and never have thought of the VC.

Really I think Nintendo's did a fine job with VC and they don't need to improve a thing, I'm happy with what we can get.

Yes people can have different opinions about stuff. However your opinion is wrong, in no way is Castlevania trash, as far as design goes it's exceptional.

Thinking Castlevania is boring is a perfectly fine opinion.

An opinion can't be wrong.

Oh, dear...
I guess I am between two ideologies. I always was very fortunate for Virtual Console to come, yet I never wanted the service to be neglected.
Eugh... I feel dizzy with the two ways of thought I have...

I don;t think virtual console is on its last legs quite yet. I've got to admit, things were looking a little concerning for a while. Especially here in Europe when we went three weeks without a release IIRC, but the recent influx of import games has gone some way to restoring my confidence in the service. I think a sense of realism is needed. Due to the number of games that have already been released on virtual console, it is unlikely that we are going to return to the days of three games a week. I'm prepared to acknowledge that it won't always be possible to release one game a week. What I personally would like to see is continued evidence that Virtual console is being supported, which at the moment does seem to be the case.

I understand peoples clamourings for N64 games. I myself am eagerly awaiting Ogre battle 64. I'm also hoping they get around to releasing pilotwings 64, Donkey Kong 64 and Excite Bike 64. Although I'm not certain whether some of these games will ever appear. Finally, I'm hoping Nintnedo will get around to releasing Super Mario Kart in Europe. I think we've waited long enough now.

...and there is no Virtual Console today.

Even so...

Thank you (literally) for the realism. Even so, you repeated what I want.

Yes I did because I agree with you about being stuck in two minds. I don't enjoy the weeks when there are no virtual console games either. Still, I wouldn't worry to much about the lack of Virtual console releases for NA today. Its only a matter of time before you guys get Ironclad and the other games released in Europe recently.

Just in case others will mis-understand my comment about this week...
No, I did not mean to desecrate Cave Story; I just found coincidental that I would be talking about saving the Virtual Console when a no-VC release day came up.

Even so, I decided to stop worrying about Virtual Console for now and actually buy some WiiWare games without guilt. (Of course, I want to see upon the subject of game translations, since, in the current state of things, they seem to be unfeasible...)

@Digiki - at one point the Spanish once thought that, until a famous explorer proved that the world is round.

But in all seriousness, there is nothing wrong with having an opinion.

So, thinking that Super Mario Bros. 2 USA is better than the original Super Mario Bros. is wrong, then?
[lolinator, just kidding, but seriously, what's wrong with having diverse opinions?]

Depending on what that opinion is, but then that's what internet forums are for: letting you know when your opinion is wrong.

Hanabi-festival was really great thanks to Castlevania and Ogre Battle 64. Although it would be very disappointing if Nintendo just continues their former VC-release politics (of 2009/2010) directly after Hanabi. At least one (maybe two) Virtual Console releases every week should be standard.

And the Virtual Console service is far from perfect (especially in Europe). Nintendo could definitely improve the gaming experience:

  • (optional) 60 Hz versions for ALL games released in PAL-regions
  • Rumble Pak support for Gamecube controllers
  • Controller Pak support
  • Adjusting the colour configuration used to display NES games. These look way too bland in my opinion.

You can't form an opinion on fact.
