Can anyone tell me why my "datel" RETRO controller (copy of classic controller) won't work? I have synced it as instructed to do, but when I start the New Mario game it keeps asking to press the 2 button to start. There is not a 2 button on the controller and I have tried all button options. I have exhausted all means, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I do not have New Super Mario Bros. But is it compatible with the classic controller ? And if it is and it is still not working, I wold contact Datel's customer support. If the boxart I just looked at is correct they are not compatible. Not 100% as I do not own the game http://www.covershut.com/covers/New-Super-Mario-Bros.-Wii-Fro... But, I think you have to use your Wiimote sideways to play the game as it requires motion control in spots, something a classic controller does not have.
One thing I've found that does work well with NSMBW and the NES VC games is the BOSS controller shell. It basically turns your Wiimote into a NES controller with a SNES controller shape. The 1 and 2 buttons are oversized and slightly angled. You just snap the remote into the back and it keeps all the functions of the remote available. It works for any game that has you hold the remote sideways. You can get them at Gamestop and Best Buy for around $10.
Hope that helps some.

The CC is really more for Virtual Console games. There are some Wii games that use it, but they tend to be more arcade-like. Oddly enough you find a lot of CC support in Japanese games you wouldn't think would need it like Shanghai and Illust Logic.
