@jwl..... My man, I dont know if EA put out NHL 09 or NHL 10 on the Wii or not. If they did go and pick it up immediately if your a hockey fan. (I have a Andrea Pavelic shirt on from the Thrashers right now lol) Its puts the 2k series to absolute shame. They revamped the ingame engine and it now actually feels like a real hockey game, and the Be A Pro Mode allows you to create you and play One Position throughout the game, starting in minor leagues and moving up the ranks to NHL. Yes, that does mean when line changes come, you sit on the bench and penalty box if you cause a penalty. Its EXTREMELY realistic and so much fun and rivals the 2k series 100 times over. Though if all you have access is to the 2k game, I do think that it was rated higher on Wii than other consoles.

All my News and Reviews in One convenient place!
Yes, as far as I have been able to find out, NHL '10 is not on the wii, but many reviewers has written that for the wii, NHL 2k10 is really the best choice. I don't have that high demands for a hockey game, so I might even just get the latest available game for my PS2 But the use of the motionplus seems interesting, so was hoping some nintendolifers have tried it.
i've got NHL2k10 and I must say it's a very good game. We don't have to talk about the graphics they are ok, pretty much what you expect from Wii graphics.
The game has more playmodes than I would have ever expected: training, exhibition matches, season, franchise, online play, updateable rosters, WM+ and WiiSpeak support etc. There is not a thing I miss here, and probably haven't tried everything yet myself. Playing in franchise mode (you can play the games, and also the role of the team manager, doing trades, contract negotiation, drafting etc., as much as you want, or just leaving it to automatic).
The pace of the game is a bit too slow for me, but you have more than enough sliders to turn it into the experience you want. For exmaple my speed sliders are set very high.
Controls: I do not have a classic controller and since a GC Controller isn't suported (the only downside), I can only speak of Remote and WM+ Controls. (Haven't tried the remote only mode yet). The controls are fine, but need a bit of getting used to them. I play exculsivel with WM+ and Nunchuch. Your shots depend on the movement and the speed, meaning you can do wrist and slap shots and the speed on screen matches your speed of movement. It just feels good The only thing I can't get working is the passing: There are 3 types, stick, flick and pointer passing. Pointer passing is pretty obvious, since you point with your remote on the screen. Stick passing uses the A button and you choose the direction with the Nunchuck. Flick passing uses only the flick of the Remote (don't know, if it's available without WM+), but in my case a lot of my passes don't get in the direction I want them to go. So I just play with stick passing and don't have any problems there.
All in all, it's a great sports game and a brilliant experience for anyone who likes the sport and wants to do more than pressing buttons to play.
I've heard great things about it. I plan to eventually get it.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
