New system updates incoming? (Wii and DSi) - Wii, WiiWare & Virtual Console Forum

I just tried updating my Wii (just because, I dunno, boredom or something. I'm already on the latest version), and instead of the usual (connects, finds, tells you there's no download available), it told me it couldn't connect to the server and threw me out. Puzzled, I went to the Wii Shop Channel. Which apparantly is "under maintenance." A little concerned that my internet was borked, I tried the Internet Channel, which still worked, and my online games still connect. Then I went to my DSi and did the same. Exactly the same result on that - unable to connect to server for System Update, and the DSi Shop "undergoing maintenance." Is there a new update on the way for the two consoles? If there is, it seems to involve the Shop of both... new features, maybe? Rather than just the "behind-the-scenes enhancements" of the previous update.

I just got a message from nintendo to update my wii shop channel. It's mainly for the free NES game deal.

So yay. Free NES game and the Wii Ambassador thing launched. And the DSi was just toying with us, no update for us on there. Maybe they're both on the same server.

Now that we know what the wii one was ( free NES game), what was the new thing for the DSi? It's working now and I don't see a difference at all!
