Maybe we should just stop the fanboyism (apparent or real) and continue rational discussion. No, wait...there ISN'T a rational discussion anywhere in this thread, is there? Well, if there is, it's been well hidden.
I like the Wii AND the PS3, anyway. I'll always be a Nintendo FAN, but I don't around being a fanBOY and bashing all other companies (just Microsoft, 'cause they legitimately suck ).
EDIT @Odnetnin: True that. It's been that way with Nintendo consoles for over ten years. It's amazing that the handhelds haven't tended to have the same problem!
Hey I've been stating facts only. Just going by the numbers. Some say "look, Nintendo doesn't develop many games!" then I go out and find lists of 1st party games and find that Nintendo is shredding the competition as far as # of titles released.
I was going to say Sony and Microsoft don't even make games but then I decided to look up their first-party subsidiaries before making such bold/untrue claims.
Very wise decision. Though I'm a bit confused why you haven't listed Insomniac among them. They do develop exclusively for Playstation and publish through Sony...doesn't that make them count among the ranks?
Anyway, Nintendo HAS to shred the competition in quantity of titles to make up for the relative lack of quality third-party games. Sad, but true.

To be fair if you count 3rd party it was a good year
Sega Madworld House of the Dead: Overkill The Conduit Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games
Capcom Resident Evil Chronicles Resident Evil 0
Rising Star Little King Story Mumanrusa: the Demon Blade
Namco-Bandai Klonoa The Munchables
EA: Motionplus Tennis, Tiger Woods and Fifa 10 Need for Speed: Shift (a proper Wii version)
I think the wii market seems a bit barren because Nintendo spaced out the releases as per usual: Xbox and PS3 tend to focus their releases in the late summer to mid-winter season. Plus theres been a lot more hype this year over Xbox's new social networking bits and games and PS3 generally doing the same.
Nintendo has always been one more likely to support it's own console rather than wait on third parties to do it: but that doesn't mean everything not from Nintendo is dross and possibly third parties are finding wii owners still stick to Nintendo titles (DS owners seem more open to third party). The more mature titles bombed this year so odds of getting many of those next year is a bit slim
I have no problem with the Wii not receiving more "mature" games. As you may have noticed, I didn't list any of those among the Wii games I bought this year. I really don't believe the Wii is the right system for those kinds of games to be on. So if we get more third party games that do a good job of being fun and family-friendly in the Nintendo style (like Zack & Wiki, Little King's Story, and Klonoa), I'll be quite happy.

Uh, RandomWiiPlayer, SONY DIDN'T MAKE ALL THOSE GAMES!! Most (if not all) are 3rd party! Nintendo beat the crap out of Sony in the 1st party department! Why do you people come to Nintendo Life if you're going to talk garbage about Nintendo?
I'm not talking garbage. If you compare them, it shows that Sony did better. And it asked for my opinion, so I gave it. And Sony did publish all of them. If I was going to post a list of every game that came out on the console this year, it would be a hell of a lot longer. Nintendo didn't make Metroid Prime Trilogy, Retro (I know it is second party) did. Nintendo didn't make Punch Out!!! either, yet people are counting that too.
First of all, you are incorrect about Retro. They are wholly owned and operated by NIntendo, so technically NIntendo DID make all of the Metroid Prime games (Retro is first, not second party in other words).
Second, if you are talking about Sony then think about this: Sony released the not-so-successful PSP Go this year.
Third, Nintendo had a decent year. They released Excitebots and NSMBWii, which are great. On the third-party side, DS kicked @$$ and the Wii had Little King's Story, A Boy and his Blob, Muramasa, Madworld, The Conduit, and Rabbids Go Home. Also, the DSi did pretty good this year with some decent titles on DSiWare

I stayed away from listing second-parties. They do develop games exclusively for Sony but are not actually owned by Sony.
They did better than 2008 but not quite as good as 2007. Overall I'm very happy with the games Nintendo put out this year. Here are my highlights: -ExciteBots -Punch-Out!! -Wii Sports Resort -Metroid Prime Trilogy -New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Next year looks like it could be Wii's best yet with the promise of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, Sin and Punishment 2, Endless Ocean 2 and maybe even a new Wii Zelda. Can't wait to see what else Nintendo has in store for us.
Future Wii purchases: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Metroid: Other M Zelda Wii New Super Mario Bros. Wii Sin and Punishment 2
Punch-Out ExciteBots New Super Mario Bros Wii Zelda: Spirit Tracks Professor Layton 2 Mario & Luigi: BIS Wii Sports Resort; launch of Wii Motion Plus Wii Fit Plus
I think they did pretty stinkin' good

I never expect anything from Nintendo, everything they do is a bonus and I am grateful. Why would I be foolish enough to judge them on 1 years releases, when they have given me two decades of joy? :/ It's threads like this that remind me why I avoid forums (NL being the exception, for now), a sprinkling of opinions that I don't and cannot recognize, and pointless comparisons with rival companies, using ill-informed stats to bicker. Yawn!
For a Nintendo fan (boy?), it is quite sad to see. (Why are we comparing Nintendo to Sony btw, I don't get it) 0_o
Wii has given me plenty of gaming joy this year, both first and third party, in fact I haven't even played all the games that I want to yet, so how could I ever complain or expect more? I had fun with my Wii, therefore Nintendo succeeded.
Well done Nintendo, on what I think was a great year.
Saying this that way it might look even good, except that these games for the Wii are: WSR: A set of quite basic minigames with an scenary mostly reused from original Wii Fit. Wii Fit+: Another set of basic minigames. NSMB Wii: a 2D platformer (based on 2006 NSMB for DS, and made by the same guys).
Then, about Tokio group we might say. hey, they need to reinvent the wheel during 2009 for SMG2, but the wheel was already invented with SMG, they are just changing the color of the wheel, and might be the radious.
BTW, Metroid, Punch and the rest were not made by Nintendo EAD groups, they were made by other companies participated or owned by Nintendo.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Don't be silly, we've had loads of seemingly integral people disappear (weeps), NL will do just fine. But it's very of nice of you to say that feenie, the place wouldn't be the same without you either. /group hug. lol
