Because people do more on their network than just share a <10Mbps internet connection. If you get some network storage all of a sudden the difference between 30Mbps, 50Mbps, 100Mbps and 200Mbps matters. The problem is that some people think that the only solution to their problem is to pour money into better access points. Instead of repositioning the router, taking some of the load off the limited and shared wireless bandwidth or using a medium better suited to the intended application.

If you can do ethernet, do it. Do it for every device you can. It's a lot better than cramming a ton of devices down a single port.
