You're not. That's just cheap. I've only ever been taxed on a points card once.
I think I've gotten taxed on my Wii Point Card all the time. Of course I didn't get taxed when buying games due to the way they were set up.
When they tax you twice, I think you're pretty much paying for Nintendo to get the cards to the store, then paying the store to give it to you(second tax) to pay store expenses. It's probably based off of your location and how 'easy' it is to get the card there. In my case, it was a price error so I was confused/pissed, but yours was location most likely... It really does suck though, because you technically are only getting a $15 card at that point.

So I've been considering looking at another game for the Wii U and I'm undecided between Ninja Gaiden and Tekken. Some background information is that I've never played Ninja Gaiden before and my dabbling in the Tekken games is slim to none. It's not a question of whether or not the games are too hard, I love hard games, so that wouldn't be a problem. I'm mostly interested in Ninja Gaiden for the combat and the fact it looks like a particularly good game. Tekken is where I'm a little lost due to inexperience with fighters. I've played a lot Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and enjoyed it, and I"ve played Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 at an arcade several times, though I've never managed to win. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 looks like a good place for someone who isn't all that accustomed to fighters to really start and the little gimmicks are very nice. So which one should I focus on getting?
.......I might just be on the new console high and trying to buy everything I can for it right now too though, XD
@Supermarioman: I may just be the only one around here at Nintendolife besides the reviewer that is playing Ninja Gaiden 3. Anyway, I think the game is great though! It is difficult and you will have to retry sections multiple times but I think it plays beautifully though it is extremely gory and violent. If you have a particular question about NG3 feel free to ask. I don't have Tekken Tag 2 so I can't compare the two options against each other.
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
Ninja Gaiden was awesome. I loved it. As Ryno said, it is quite hard. Even some sections on the easiest difficulty can force a retry or two. Graphics won't really blow you away or anything, but I think most of us realize graphics aren't everything. My only criticism is that the character's movement isn't as silky smooth as some other action/adventure games like a Zelda, but I think it may have been a stylistic choice of the developer to add a little "spaz" to everything lol. Everything is very very fast, and you are rewarded for chaining moves and combos. As you level up and unlock different moves and weapons, you really start to feel powerful. The story is functional... lots of Eastern influence, obviously, which is different for some of us but pretty cool.
Definitely try and play with a pro controller if you can. You're going to beat the heck out of whatever controller you end up using.
Sorry been meaning to post for a while, just not getting around to it XD @Ryno: I remember your help when I was asking about Ninja Gaiden on the thread dedicated to it. Thanks again for those. Otherwise you've sung the games praises for a while now to me. I'm just trying to figure out what should come next. I was hoping that I could find a couple of Tekken players and hear their opinions, but if I don't hear much of anything else I may just go ahead and decide on Ninja Gaiden. It just looks great!
I wish there was a demo for Ninja Gaiden - I'm interested, but not sure if I will find it too frustrating.
But I am playing (and enjoying) Epic Mickey 2, and I have Batman waiting to go next and ZombiU on the way, as well as a baby due in February, so might not need any new games too soon ;P
Finished NSMBU (great!) Little Inferno (great!) and played a fair bit of Puddle (Pretty good) and NintendoLand (Mixed but really fun with a group)
If you don't have Batman Arkham City, get it!!
I have had no problems with frame rate issues what so ever!
It is by far the best Wii U game I have played yet!
Completely agree. One of the finest games I've had the pleasure of playing. If you've never played Arkham City on PS3 or 360, it's a MUST BUY.
I'm thinking of buying New Super Mario Bros. U. It seems like the most creative and fun New Super Mario Bros. game, judging from the demo. Which isn't saying much. And it isn't, but still, I think I'll actually like it. However, that mostly rests on how hard it is. The demo levels were mostly from early levels, so I don't think that'll give me a feel for how frustrating it might be. For the record, I played New Super Mario Bros. Wii solo and found it very difficult, so you may use that as a comparison. I will also be playing this game solo. I also dislike it when games have difficulty spikes, instead of being more gradual, though most games suffer from at least few spikes. Anyone know how frequent they may be, and severe they might be?
...er, TL;DR - How hard is New Super Mario Bros. U? Also, how quickly does it become hard?
@CanisWolfred NSMBU Is the best 2D Mario I've played (and I've played them all, haven't beaten them all but I've played them all). It's the only one I'm actually trying to get all the star coins in too. I'd say the difficulty is pretty good, not at frusterating as NSMBW'S was. It starts getting harder around... the 3rd or fourth world, I think? Anyway, I definetly reccommend it.
@3Dash - Ah, thank you. I think the DS version didn't get hard until World 4. If that game wasn't so boring, it'd be my favorite thus far, because that's about where I'd expect a platformer to get harder. Thanks, I'll be sure to pick it up once I get a Wii U. I'll admit, that may not be for a while, but I'm sure it'll remain high on my list for quite a while, especially with the DLC going around.
Please note that the below post was originally the start of a thread I had created (https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/wii-u/my_next_wii_u_game) before @theblackdragon pointed me to this one. With that being said, I will now copy and paste said post below:
I am a bit stuck on which Wii U game to get (please note that this purchase is at least 3 months away), so I will provide you with a list below, and I ask that you tell me which one I should get first, second, third, etc. (note that some are some are Retail-ony and some are Retail or Download)...
Edited at 20:50 on April 15, 2013 with the following: -removal of Mass Effect 3: Special Edition -addition of Zen Pinball 2
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Assassin's Creed III
Batman Arkham City: Amored Edition
New Super Mario Bros. U
Lego City Undercover
Need for Speed Most Wanted U
Zen Pinball 2
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Thank you for your assistance with choosing what game from the above list to buy next/ first. Happy Gaming!
Well if you have an Xbox 360 or PS3 than I would suggest getting Batman Arkham City on those systems instead of the Wii U. For one thing you can get the GOTY edition cheaper for those two systems and the use of the gamepad isn't really a deal breaker for that game, I mean its good but not $30 more good. Same thing I am guessing with Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed you can probably get cheaper on the Xbox or PS3.
With that said I would probably go in this order (mind you this is if you have the other systems I am not sure if you do or not)
1. Lego City
2. New SUper Mario Bros U
3. Injustice

The only other video game system I have is a 3DS. What would the list be like then?

I am keeping track of your numbered list by utilizing a point system wherein:
number 1 on any particular list gets 3 points
number 2 on any particular list gets 2 points
and number 3 on any particular list gets 1 point
After I have enough money to buy at lest 1 of the games on my list, I will look back at my chart. Whichever game has the highest huber of points will be my purchase, no matter what. If I have money for two games, I will buy the one with the highest number of votes and the lowest number of votes. It's really just a fun easy way for me to decide what games to purchase when, so thank you all for your continued help.

Please note below that I have changed my list of games ever so slightly in the following ways:
no longer includes Mass Effect 3: Special Edition
addition of Zen Pinball 2
Here is that edited list:
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition
Assassin's Creed III
New Super Mario Bros. U
Lego City: Undercover
Need for Speed Most Wanted U
Zen Pinball 2 (recommended tables?)
Injustice: Gods Among Us

With the launch of the Wii U Virtual Console service coming any day now, I have another decision to make. Do I save up to buy New Super Mario Bros. U (a purchase that is at least 5 months away) or do I go ahead and buy Super Mario World from the Nintendo eShop for $7.99 (a purchase that I could do as soon as it becomes available)?
