The more and more I view this the more and more I want this game, I'm a huge fan of rhythm games so I wish to have it in my possession. Believe you me its crazy, but that's the way I like it. We got a character in Mario Kart, so I was hoping to see a game brought to the US and EU, but alas...

Actually for all you video game lovers, I know there is a lot of you, this one might be better for you.

And you think you are the only one who would love this? After Rhythm Heaven, it should not be that hard to get it. Even if it is eShop only.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I know right, everyone should enjoy this haha. It seems like it would do pretty well, if I recall correctly Rhythm Heaven Fever did pretty well in other regions right?

I don't know, but it did have TF2 parodies, so it probably sold...1 billion copies or something.

I can kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinda see why this wouldn't be brought here. Mainly for licensing music (see: the huge difference in Donkey Konga Japan vs. America) and that this game is so Japanese it makes Okami look like Gears of War.

As I am primarily Rhythm gamer, I would absolutely adore this game, but I've come to accept that Rhythm Gaming will always be a niche market in the US. I don't expect a port, much as I would love one.

@UGXwolf what about Guitar Hero? Not particularly my favorite rhythm game, but that and DDR were huge and so is Just Dance. I wish games like Rhythm Heaven were more popular, but its not impossible.

Also yeah I agree, region lock is horrible, but so is piracy. There has to be a better way, I'm not hardware savvy so I have no idea.

@64supermario While Rhythm games do come in and out, they rarely stick. If anything, Guitar Hero made it harder. Even then, it was already on its way out, by the time Rock Band 3 and Warriors of Rock came out. DDR, you'll notice, hasn't made a big deal of anything since the 6th generation. Rhythm Heaven is pretty heavily ignored, too. Just Dance and Dance Central are just the current fad. The question is what fad Rhythm Gaming will take, next.

The other problem I realize after watching the video in the OP is that this game is so Japan that the only hope for selling it in the US is by making that the main selling point. "WHY PLAY DANCE GAMES WHEN YOU CAN ENJOY JAPAN RIGHT IN YOUR OWN HOME! JAPAN! WITNESS THE... MUSIC... FROM JAPAN! IN YOUR HOME! WITH TAIKO! IT'S A DRUMMING THING! COME ON, YOU'RE GULLIBLE ENOUGH TO BUY IT, RIGHT? JAPAN!!!"

Even then, they heavily risk making it a double niche (over-complicated rhythm game and extreme Japan-o-phile)

The only other hope would be to essentially reskin the game entirely so that it consists of a variety of US and European pop songs with Mario being the theme instead of random Japanime kawaii characters around the borders.

Short version, I'm /really/ not holding my breath for this one.

Funny thing is, that is exactly what Namco did 10 years ago minus having Mario songs (it waas a PS2 game). They haven't made another US version since. Also the game is actually pretty simple compared to say Guitar Hero. That doesn't mean it is easy. Actually, Donkey Konga was also made by Namco and uses the same game engine (I believe), so if anything, you should be asking for another one of those.

Ok, let me rephrase that. It's not over-complicated. It's an eyesore. The chart is a nuisance to sight read, requiring either a low level, the ability to slow down the track, or pure memorization. This is generally considered a bad thing in gaming, so I don't see why Rhythm gaming should be any different. Guitar Hero can be sight read pretty easily. That doesn't mean you can keep up. Taiko has a rather confusing setup, though, and so did Donkey Konga (naturally). Doesn't make them bad or less interesting, though. I just feel that it's better to have it to where you can read what's going on the first time, whether or not you can keep up.

I can't see any chance if this getting a worldwide release - I mean those plastic drum controllers are like fifty bucks each! I picked up a Japanese Wii for other reasons, but I ended up getting the first three Taiko games and a couple of drums - not cheap to import I can tell you! I've yet to finish even one of them because I just have too many games on the Wii U to deal with let alone my Japanese Wii backlog. The idea of having another console just doesn't compute for me...

True those would be all fads and yeah to be honest they got really old really fast. I don't know what Rhythm game needs to be made that will stick in the public's eye. I wish Rhythm Heaven was popular across all boards, but doesn't seem likely. However it was popular amongst the YTPMV and TF2 video makers and I find those hilarious:
