Okay, the only thing that Lucario and Mewtwo have in common is their neutral B, and the fact that both of their final smashes would be Mega Evolutions. That's it. I honestly don't get why people think he's a clone.

What would y'all think about these characters as DLC?
King K. Rool: Not likely, and I think he's overrated. He's more Nintendo fodder. Their are too many lesser-known characters that are SOOOO much better.
Ridley: Ehhhh, semi-likely, but I hate him. Would be a waste of character slot IMO
Wolf: Pretty likely as DLC. My personal opinion? GAWD no! We don't need another Landmaster....
Mewtwo: Semi-likely and I wouldn't object to him...if Ice Climbers came with him it'd be so much better T_T
Masked Link: Unlikely, but even though I like WW more than MM he would have made a much better Link alternate than Clone Link...er, Toon Link
Roy: Ehh maybe likely. Personally, I always liked him better than hyper-fabulous! Marth.
Lucas: Very likely, and I wouldn't mind if he came back as long as they toned down that BS up smash. Personally, I hate him, but I want to be fair
Isaac: Semi-likely (his assist trophy is gone!). Great choice IMO. Never played GS, but he'd have a good moveset potential.

It mostly comes from the idea that Lucario replaced Mewtwo as the edgy talking pokemon from a movie.

I actually got around to using Mewtwo better than Lucario. I actually hope he returns as DLC, but if he doesn't I'm perfectly fine with it.
Also, anyone who says Lucario is a Mewtwo clone obviously haven't played Melee.
In fact I've never played Melee(actually I did, but we can't talk about it here) and tbh, Lucario isn't a Mewtwo clone from what I saw in Smash 3DS.
Lucario and Mewtwo have some similarities cannonically, but in Smash their only similarities is one of their moves. If anything, the Pokemon that had the most similarities in Smash to it's counterpart was Pichu, but even then he was literally a younger version of Pikachu.

There's no such thing as character slots. Sakurai doesn't go "Oh, okay team, we're going to have 50 character slots, let's fill them up!" "Oh... We can't put Wolf in this slot because Falco's in that slot... I guess we have to cut Wolf!"

@KryptoKrunch Lucas and Wolf are more like half-clones. They have similarities to Ness and Fox, but are also rather different from them. Lucas admittedly was closer to Ness than Wolf was to Fox, but I could honestly see him getting changed.
