Was this necessary? A sequel to what's considered to be one of the worst games of all time? I don't keep up with sports culture, so maybe Shaq is still really popular, but I just find it sort of amazing that there is a market for this. Unless it's just based on pure nostalgia. "Oh! I played that bad game when I was 'x'! A sequel would be funny!"
Looking at the project video, the guys working on this know the game was terrible and talk a bit about why that was.
They said that often execs want to cash in on a franchise/celebrity and order a game to be made. But they want to make a game that would be good with or without Shaq.
