Except that Wii U has an original 3D Mario platformer that is still well under a year old. Don't you think it makes some sense when remastering a classic to not only select a beloved game that will sell well after being ported and upgraded, but also fill a hole in your offerings if possible at the same time?

Wii U doesn't have any 3D Metroid, but does have an excellent 3D Mario platformer that is one of the newest games on the platform and which will be a strong seller for it for a long time to come. Why compete with that so soon in 2015? I'd rather see Sunshine HD in spring 2016 at the earliest and give Super Mario 3D World at least a full two years to itself on the marketplace to glean as much out of it as possible out of it at or close to original MSRP.

Not to mention that for some reason, criticism about Sunshine seems to have grown since its original release. Not entirely sure why that is, but it doesn't seem to be aging like fine wine like Wind Waker and Metroid Prime have done that only seem even more liked now that a few years have passed.

There's one other thing the Wii U doesn't have though, which is a collectathon platformer. All of the Wii U's platformers are the same "get to the goal" style games that we see all of the time. But when's the last time we saw a platformer where you have to explore large, open levels and collect stuff? Hell, when's the last time anyone's made that kind of game? Nintendo needs to bring back this genre big time.

That's not to say that Sunshine is a better choice than Metroid Prime, but it's still viable because it also fills a gap that is missing on Wii U.

Yes. I did, or does my opinion not count in this generalization?

I'm more thinking optional Wiimote pointer controls for the water cannon. If they revisit Super Mario Sunshine someday and it's on a platform that supports Wii remotes or something comparable, I hope that option is there.

I'm more thinking that goes against Nintendo and their claim to focus more on the Gamepad.

No?

F-Zero GX is actually a good shout as well - kinda fits in with them admitting they don't know what to do with the series? Re-release an old version and just make it prettier and use GP motion controls. Though as I said, doesn't interest me, in this instance because it's actually quite a small game - shortish story, and few cups etc.

F Zero GX may be short in length, but many have admitted that it took them several years to beat the game because of its relatively brutal difficulty.

Did anybody care about Windwaker (Other than to hate it) prior to its remaster being announced. (Now it is suddenly peoples favourite Zelda).

Yes. After the initial controversy in the art style, Wind Waker was and continues to be one of the most popular and well-loved entries in the series.

Same with Sunshine. (EDIT: Not the most popular title, but people still love it)

I dunno... I don't think I've ever seen anyone outside of Nintendo's core fanbase even mention the game.

Super Mario Sunshine does definitely have a lot of people who like it. After all, while it was nowhere near as successful as other Mario platformers, it still sold about 5-6 million copies and got great reviews, and lots of people do have fond memories of the game. A remaster (or better yet, a Super Mario 64 DS style remake) would be fantastic.

I was never a fan of Super Mario Sunshine though trying it out many times in the past.
I found it to be extremely challenging and frustrating for my likings, also, I hate the fact that you had to finish every level instead of getting a set amount of shine sprites to finish it.
I prefer the Super Mario 64 or Galaxy where you only need a set amount of stars and you can do them in any order you like
As for the remake, I'd love Luigi's Mansion HD or Super Mario 64 HD with all the added DS stuff but with new textures, since it would be better on the WiiU than the DS due to the analog sticks compared to the DS's d-pad

Nintendo would be smart to go for Majora's mask for Wii U rather than 3DS as OOT 3D propelled the 3DS' sales back in 2011. The only downside is, not as many people played MM (me included) on the 64, so it is not as a beloved Zelda game as OOT. Nintendo just need that killer game that more people will want to buy the system for.

I do feel that it will be a gamecube game however, as this will be much easier for Nintendo to give a HD coat of paint to.

I disagree about Majora's Mask, it should be 3DS because you can't play the original on that console unlike the Wii U (it's on Wii VC). Wii U should focus on Gamecube as the only legit way currently to play that system's games on Wii U is (Wind Waker only so far) via a HD remake.

I want Majora's Mask on the 3DS. It belongs next to OoT 3D. An HD remake would take too many resources, at least on the 3DS everything it pretty much half done due to OoT 3D.

As for a Wii U remaster, I would love Metroid Prime Trilogy HD, but I'm sure whatever they announce will be good

I don't think Majora's Mask carries nearly as much clout as some people think. It was one of the most divisive Zelda amongst the fanbase. Some people love it, some people hate it. A 3DS remake is a much safer bet for it.

Yeah, they should change it in the remake so instead of beating every Episode 7 (which completely defeats the purpose of a collecthathon), you need say, 60 Shine Sprites and the Rocket Nozzle. The only Shines that would be mandatory then, would be Delfino Airstrip, Bianco Hills Episode 1, and Pinna Park Episodes 1-4. Much more reasonable than having to do almost all of the episodes.

I agree with what others have said that a Majoras Mask remake would likely go on 3DS.

If they are going to do a game in HD it would likely be from the gamecube or wii era. Those 2 consoles were very similar graphically and we have seen especially on the PS3 how easily they released HD collections of PS2 games. Wind waker they did a better job than most of those games.

We already had a remake of Windwaker but I would really love a Twilight Princess/Skyward sword HD collection. We have seen Zelda collections before but they may not want to do it since they already did Windwaker and sold it for $50. I just want something like what Dolphin can do for these games.

We don't have a proper 3D mario so 64 sunshine galaxy 1 or galaxy2 are possibilities. Controls wise 64 would be the easiest and in my opinion the game was broken and pointless on the DS because it had no analog stick and that game was built around the analog stick. I would love a Galaxy HD collection, again just giving us something like what Dolphin can do but the pointer controls mean they would have to come up with an alternative method to allow it to be played with a gamepad pro controller. The lack of analog triggers makes sunshine a challenge too. I think you can get by making ZL/ZR a full press and L/R a half press.

I have trouble seeing how it wouldn't be one of those franchises but a Metroid Prime HD trilogy might also make sense. Help the consoles image as serious gaming console, include both control types, stunning HD visuals and add some gameplay tweaks possibly like they did with Windwaker.

Maybe the Zelda remakes make the most sense so they can experiment and get a feel how to control zelda on Wii U....add motion plus to Twilight Princess or come up with a directional slice control for skyward sword....an excercise to learn how to give the two control options in the next Zelda.

It wasn't as popular or as big a seller as OOT, no. It would be a safer bet to put it on the 3DS and pair it with OOT instead of devoting time to a HD port that probably wouldn't do so hot.

I'll just post what I said in the news section. Bring some Gamecube remasters like Star Fox Assault, Luigi's Mansion, F-Zero GX, Mario Sunshine, Custom Robo, Fire Emblem, or Mario Strikers to name a few.

2015 will be an interesting year for Nintendo.
