I played the demo. It was fun but nothing I'm excited about like sunshine was. Sunshine was innovative and expansive, I have replayed it countless times. SM3DW felt like SM3DL with a spit polish; yes, I thought SM3DL was fun but I doubt I'll ever replay it, nor do I remember any levels from it. In other words, I'm basing this off what I played. And I'm not saying it was bad, just that I'd pick an HD Sunshine sequel over a 3DL sequel with cats.

I'd prefer Sunshine or Galaxy, but I still think that 3DW looks fun. I just hope it's harder than 3DL...
I did not like Sunshine, so for me it is a no. The part I liked about Sunshine was the big, expansive, mission based levels, because they reminded me of Mario 64. I hated the camera, and a gimped Mario who could not even make a long jump without FLUDD.
Regarding the cat suit, I have not played the demo (why these demos are not in the eShop is beyond me) but it seems to be a new, interesting mechanic that should allow for more exploration, so I wonder how linear those levels will be. Technically having 4 different characters to play with is something I am looking forward to.

I'm pretty sure most of the praise for Sunshine was how different and risky an idea it was for the sequel to Super Mario 64 so people just wanting Sunshine again is hypocritical and stupid.

So why can't they be different and risky again? That's how you create amazing games and how is that hypocritical? We want a sequal not the exact same game.

i think 3d world is closer to galaxy than galaxy is to sunshine/64
It is. People look at Galaxy's theme and don't see that the play mechanics inspired 3D Land (and 3D World). It's a more direct to the point game, more similar to the 2D pace, instead of the exploration and play mechanics seen on 64/Sunshine.
Mario 64 had levels like these, the Bowser stages, Sunshine also, those crazy hard (and cool) bonus levels. These kind of levels inspired Galaxy which inspired 3D Land.

3d world looks the same as galaxy to me i really dont see a difference except upgraded graphics and awesome multiplayer.
bang on, people dont seem to understand that this open world 3d mario that they speak off was last seen on the gamecube and not wii. they speak as if its the norm for a mario game; when theres only been 2 games like that really. 3d land is no different to galaxy, small self contained levels. alot of the levels seen in the trailers reek of new ideas that easily compare to galaxy's like shadow play alley for example.
