I finally got Lana's 8 bit weapon on the Termina map for Wii U. Took me so many tries but I just managed to get it (5,900 damage when 6,000 and above is B rank). All that's left for me regarding 100% completion is some more A ranks and heart pieces/containers on Termina map and 1 A rank on Ganon's Fury.
I finally got Ruto's level 3. I oddly found the best way to take out Zant in a timely manner was to use the guard breaker potion and just wail on him with weak attack strings. (being careful not to take unecessary hits of course.)
I tried the thing to block and get him to expose, but I found it more efficient to simply go balls out with the guard breaker potion up. Of course being level 70 helps too.
The challenge mode and ganon's rage (cucco mode) are not in the 3DS game. In the case of the WiiU game, if you have the giant bosses DLC I think you unlock the cucco by doing well as Ganon. (Edit: unlock by a ranking Ganon's third level)
In the case of the rewards map, you need to complete at least one skulltula picture, each one unlocks a different mission on the map.
@Meowpheel: Where at?! The only FAQ website I've ever seen is GameFAQs and over the past few years the quality of the guides have dropped substantially and worse yet most games released in the past two or three years don't have a single FAQ including Xenoblade Chronicles X...
Heck even Hyrule Warriors doesn't have a single complete guide and none of the available ones share any information regarding the DLC packs...
I usually just Google what I need and find answers in a few different places.
If by challenge mode you mean the missions from the giant bosses pack, it seems the rewards other than the cucco are recolor costumes based on bosses.
Link = Beast Ganon (black and red)
Lana = King Dodongo (yellow and red)
Zelda = Argorok (black and red)
Ganondorf = Cucco (white and red)
Cia = Manhandla (green and red)
That's great news, I hope it means the other DLC characters will have missions in their respective maps too.
From what I heard, the reason the previous DLC characters didn't, was because in Japan you could buy them separately (so if they were incomplete it would feel like a rip-off), but that is not the case with this DLC... So let's wait and see.
Interesting how only the Japanese trailer mentions the new character costumes, one would think they're also a selling point for the DLC map.
In the case of Cia, Volga and Wizzro (on the WiiU) and Medli (on the 3ds) it's less a case of "they're mandatory" and more of "if you want to experience them fully, then buy the DLC".
If anything, they're the characters that would make sense to offer with everything unlocked. But they're instead used to taunt you into buying the DLC instead. Which is fine.
Nothing so far indicates or predicts what they'll do with the future characters, as I said, let's wait and see.
