I'm probably being thick here - any help would be appreciated.
I downloaded a digital copy of Mario kart 8 this morning and the receipt had a code in it. It said I had to register my copy of MK8 on club nintendo using the code. I went to club nintendo and the game was already registered. I answered the survey that came with it.
I thought it said 48 hours? What I'm trying to ascertain is what do I need to do with the code I got in my receipt for the digital download? Anything? Or do I actually need to do nothing?
All you need is for MK8 to be registered to Club Nintendo, nothing more.
I got my free game immediately after it was registered. I believe it was before I even answered the survey; a popup window appeared, asking me which free game I wanted. After selecting one, they gave me the code.
That's why I'm worried something might have gone wrong. MK8 not showing on my deluxe promotion site thingy either. Might ring them tomorrow. Happy to be patient but just wanna be sure I've done all I need to
Once you've done the survey and picked your free game, the code that you are given can be redeemed immidiatly on the eShop.
Any purchases that you make on the eShop will take approximately 24 hours to show up on your deluxe account.
Did you do the survey to redeem club nintendo coins/stars? Or did you do the free promotion survey? There's two surveys to fill out, I just checked.
You use the first code given to you on the free game survey, the free game pick screen will show you the cover art for the available games. Pick the game you want by clicking on the cover art, and ok that. It'll then give you a code to use on the eShop.
man club nintendo's servers are overloaded can't even get on to register my game.
edit: club nintendo is now down for maintenance, guess this is a good sign they must be really starting to move systems
Make sure your email isn't filtering out the email from them. Also, no need to worry. I've had the problem before, a customer service message to them got it all fixed. They probably have the best service outside of Apple in the industry.
I'd recommend giving it a day or two then contact them. They have overloaded servers right now so I'd imagine their support is too, best to wait a bit and not get lost in the shuffle
That is right, it didn't go on sale in the eshop until the right time, so you couldn't have bought it before the promo start. In the us, they even changed the promo time on the wen page from May 30 to midnight New York time May 30/9 pm Califormia time May 29th.
Well, just spoken to nintendo. Very helpful (as always) but also snowed under (which is a good thing, I guess). They checked my account and they have no idea why it hasn't worked. It should have done and I've done everything correctly. They've told me to wait until Monday and if I haven't had it by then I should ring them back and they will manually generate a code for the game I want.

If you follow these instructions you can't go wrong. For example I registered MK8 last night, logged into club Nintendo this morning, clicked onto to the Mk8 banner answered a questionnaire and got a code for my free game.
Make sure your email isn't filtering out the email from them. Also, no need to worry. I've had the problem before, a customer service message to them got it all fixed. They probably have the best service outside of Apple in the industry.

I don't think Nintendo or Apple customer service is that great. I still have loads of stuff that never got attached to Club Nintendo due to Nintendo's error and they haven't sorted it out (I have tried twice). Still got the transaction id's there and the games working. Nothing was changed around that time (Other than Nintendo messing up around the Super Mario Bros 3 EU release date). They are either unable or unwilling but both are as bad as each other.
The customer service for Kindle is the best. They send you a brand new one first thing the next day if there are any problems. You have 30 days to send back the old one. (Free of charge).
Apple Care is pretty rubbish compared to what you get with a similarly priced business laptop.
Nokia is even better than Apple (Even more so because I have only needed to use it once).
“30fps Is Not a Good Artistic Decision, It's a Failure”
Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
Seems like Club Nintendo is still down...so I guess wait until it's back up (whenever that happens) to see if you can get the code. Not much you can do until then.
