Help me.... the kids wants to play super mario
I have a wii u console that is working without problems with wii u games.
I have now got a wii game - super mario, and when I wan't to play that it only shows on the game pad.
I get a picture on the tv, saying that I need to select if the the game should be on the tv only or both the tv and gamepad. But I can't select anything there, I can only use the "1" button on the remote, and then the tv turns black saying no signal and I can play on the gamepad.
Please help....

Do you have a senor bar connected to the TV?

@Bjura Clacko is on the right track. The only way to get the Wii U to display it's vWii on the TV is to use the Wii Remote to select the appropriate box that displays on the TV after you've launched the vWii.

And the only way to do that is by pointing the Wii Remote at a sensor bar - it doesn't work if you try to point it at the sensor on the Wii U gamepad.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Is it an actual Wii disc game or an eshop downloaded game?

Surely an original Wii game wouldn't ask if you wanted to play on the gamepad or not (they shouldn't know what a gamepad is).

I know the downloaded eshop versions of Wii games ask that when you start them up. Xenoblade does at least. For me, I got the option to change it on the gamepad, so just push the right option on the gamepad touchscreen.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

@Dezzy It's probably asking if they want Wii Mode displayed on TV or on Gamepad and TV, but it really should display to both, I don't believe there is a gamepad only mode

Do you like videogames? If so, you must know

Sorry to reply to this after it had been posted 4 months ago, but I have a suggestion. I presume your Wii system is attached to the TV by some cable or other to a certain socket. Have you tried physically changing to that socket ? Most TVs have an Input Selection list to select which item (that is connected to the TV, e.g. DVD player, Wii, video player etc.) you wish to have on your screen. When I do the Steps program in Wii U, I switch from HD1 (Wii U) to "Sat" so I can watch satellite TV whilst stepping.
Maybe that is worth a try.

@Helvetica No offense, but I think you need to read his question again, because you're answer is not relevant at all. He's asking about playing Wii games on Wii U, NOT about having difficulties finding the right channel that his Wii is connected to...

As far as I understood his words "I have now got a wii game...it only shows on the game pad.....and then the tv turns black saying no signal and I can play on the gamepad." he apparently does not want to play on the game pad, but on his TV, but his TV is not showing the game.
Hence my reply.

@Helvetica Well, you said "I presume your Wii system is attached to the TV" and it is NOT about a Wii but about a Wii U, so that came across to me as if you didn't really get his issue.
