I would love HBO Go on the Wii U, but I'm not all that hopeful. They said they were bringing HBO Go to the PlayStation 3 nearly two years ago, and we're still waiting. Nothing on Wii either. Maybe if they made their site HTML 5 based the Wii U could access it in the browser, but I've heard nothing on that either. There wasthis last year, but there have been no official announcements that I'm aware of, so I'm not expecting anything.
Well this is the first time I have heard about it. If thats the reason you are waiting to get a Wii U well than you might be waiting a long time to get one.

Xbox 360 has HBO Go on it. I'd love to not have to pay MS $10/mo for the "privilege" of using an Xbox for online media. I'll buy the Wii U when a Zelda title shows up (someday), but if HBO Go were avail I'd buy one today.
I'm honestly more surprised anyone actually cares about HBO Go.
You must not watch Game of Thrones.
I don't watch anything. Not even Netflix. I can't stand watching TV shows or movies. If it's not interactive in any way, shape, or form, I don't even bother.

I can understand not watching TV (I almost never watch TV but I watch shows like Mythbusters every once in a while), but I don't understand how you can't watch movies! I don't watch movies very often (even though I'm planning to become a film major, I try not to take inspiration and come up with my own ideas), but cinema can tell stories in ways where it can effect you emotionally and even change your life in some cases. A movie can provide two hours of pure enjoyment, fright, information, etc., and entertainment in general that a lot of games just can't. That's just my opinion though! Not saying that you have to watch TV/movies.
Its almost a year and a half now since it was reported that HBO Go was being developed for Wii U (http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=178400). Still nothing.
The Youtube app for the Wii U is totally non-functional. It works like a pre-alpha program. And Youtube won't function in the Wii U browser.
Meanwhile the ChromeCast device is a mere $30 and plays HBO Go, Youtube, Hulu, and everything else under the sun, earth, moon, and stars.
Is Nintendo even trying to make the Wii U a centralized media device anymore or did they just give up?

You definitely don't watch Game of Thrones.

Since when did nintendo ever attempt to make a home console a centralized media device?
You don't remember Reggie talking about HOOOOOOOOOOOOOW much he loves Breaking Bad when they were demonstrating the Tvii for the first time before launch. And no Nintendo are not, same problem over here in the UK with no BBC Iplayer (unless watched through Wii mode), ITV player, 4 ondemand or Demand5... and then they wonder why the 360 outsold lifetime sales of the Wii in UK. It's certainly not for the exclusive software on it!!!
