On June 18th Gamestop wont be carrying the basic Wii U set anymore. Not sure what the reason is behind this. Perhaps another set is set to come out? What do you guys think?

I mean, I don't really care what kind of gamer you are at some point 8 gigs is just not enough, I hope this means Nintendo is dropping the price of and turning the current Deluxe into the new 'basic' model and releasing a new Deluxe with at least 120GB. Even that isn't very acceptable this day and age, but it's much better than 32.
Gamestop has said, according to several articles, Wii U is flopping. That isn't proof of anything, but it is some sobering evidence.
I think it has much more to do with how few of the basic sets are selling, as opposed to the premiums. It definitely lends itself to future release of the newly announced for Japan white premium, and black premium. The basic is getting the boot, basically.
If nobody is buying that SKU then why continue to make it? Waste of money. Recall them, modify them to include 32GB instead of 8GB, sell them as white Premium models. Makes a lot of sense.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
I know a Wii U white premium pack with a better battery is coming to Japan next month. So maybe its coming to the US as well and there just doing away with the white basic?
That basic set is worthless man. 32 GB, Nintendo Land, and not to mention the digital deluxe promotion are extra dollars well spent. Maybe if the basic was $200 it might have something going for it.
Where's the KABOOM?! There was supposed to be an earth-shattering KABOOM! sigh delays...delays...
I'm not really sure why but I have myself and have no problems with it. Maybe because there not selling enough or are overlooked because or the deluxe set.

According to a report on htxt.africa, sales of the Wii U in South Africa have not been particularly great so far.
Analysts at Gfk, a retail sales data tracking and market research company, says that by the end of April 2013, less than 2,000 Wii U consoles had been sold in South Africa since its launch in November 2012.
This is contrasted with 50,000 Xbox 360 console sales over the same period.
Speaking to htxt, Kali Moahloli, Business Group Head at GfK TEMAX South Africa, said that “the gaming market overall is fairly weak at the moment.” This is due to high prices, a result of the weak Rand, and customers waiting to see what happens with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, explained Moahloli.
"There is a current misperception about Wii U hardware.
To clarify: Nintendo is working with its retail partners to simply re-balance the stock of the White 8GB and the Black 32GB Wii U models in the market. Consumers looking for either model will continue to find them available."
You know I dont mean to sound rude but I love how people automatically want some sort of deal cause they bought a basic set. Show me where it says that you are entitled to a deal because you bought something that might be discontinued. You all are some greedy people. Your enjoyment of that set is your deal. If you didn't enjoy well that's your bad.
