There is pretty much no evidence to indicate that FFXV would sell well on the Wii U, but there's no evidence to suggest that it wouldn't either..

100% this. This applies to every other console as well.

It will sell on PS4. 20 years of a loyal install base and about 8 years of anticipation will turn a profit rather easily. This game almost doesn't even need to be multiplat at all.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the sales of FFXV on the Wii U will be higher than the cost of porting the game. Square-Enix will make a profit if they port it!

Porting a game of that caliber will not make a profit on the Wii U.

You can think it will make a profit, but you're wrong.

Explain why I'm wrong

Porting isn't exactly them just switching a button. Believe it or not, it does require effort, and moreso for the Wii U than the PS4 or Xbox One, because of their architecture.

You know what, demand the Tales of series on Wii U. It's been consistently better than Final Fantasy since Gen VI anyway (ignoring the red-headed stepchild that is Legendia).

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

See, this is a real point, somewhat.

That still doesn't explain why the game is on Xbox One, though. Same thing with Kingdom Hearts.

With Nintendo and Square-Enix's sales records together, I think that it would sell, especially because there is a lack of RPGs on the Wii U.

Unless your company owns the rights to a console (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft), multiplat almost always leads to greater profit.

If the game is already built, it still requires effort, but not as much as the initial development. That's the point I'm trying to make.

None of the 7th gen ports on Wii U would have happened if it was as demanding as developing software from scratch.

EDIT: All the 7th gen ports on Wii U, basically required only 40,000 sales to be break even.

You really think that Wii U not getting 3rd party games is ok? That's the whole argument on why Xbox One and PS4 are selling. If Xbox One and PS4 are selling, because of 3rd party games, than who's to say it wouldn't be the same for Wii U?

I never said it was okay.

Wii U isn't selling, though. That one year head start was a flop. The install base is too small for a year old console and developer's know this. Not to mention its inferior to the PS4 on all fronts.

There is no data on whether FFXV will sell on Wii U, so it's literally impossible to draw a conclusion that it won't.

Square Enix knows it won't and that's good enough for me.

Just for you.

Also, you don't know what Square Enix knows, so you can't say that they know it won't sell.

@Oragami Don't feel that bad the game isn't coming to Wii U. The chance this game will be heavily scripted with a terrible story is really high. We got Monolith's X coming EXCLUSIVELY to Wii U someday... watch a trailer for that game and see how you feel.

I used to be really hyped for Final Fantasy XV. Man, I used to be so excited but I started watching the trailers for the game over and over and I started thinking about Tetsuya Nomura.... The only amazing thing about that guy is that he's a great character designer. He's a awful storyteller. I started thinking about how bad recent FF games are compared to past FF games and I realized that Final Fantasy XV might be one of those games that has great gameplay but awful story. I'M REALLY WORRIED about FF XV's story. I'm a huge JRPG guy and my gut tells me the story for this game will be absolutely horrible.

I still plan on getting Final Fantasy XV but not when it releases. I'm not throwing 60 bucks at this game. Nah... I wait until it gets a price cut.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I don't know... Square-Enix's Action RPGs have been very good in the past, like Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts, Mana, etc. I just have a feeling this will be the game that brings Final Fantasy back to life. But I don't want this to be the future of the series. I want the ATB back. This will be a nice change of pace though...

@Oragami Ehhhhh.... Kingdom Hearts is a excellent example of great gameplay but TERRIBLE STORY!!! Seriously! The story for Kingdom Hearts is so bad that people actually love it!!! I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan and I know this!!! Kingdom Hearts 1 is the only game in the series that was really clear on what was going on without a explanation.

Have you ever played FF 13? Ya know... the game with Snow and Hope? The two guys that ruined that game. Let's not forget the terrible gameplay either.

I have doubts about Final Fantasy XV. I really do. I don't want it to fail but my JRPG instinct says it will suck.

Final Fantasy just isn't the same without Hironobu Sakaguchi directly involved in the production. That's why The Last Story was the best 'Final Fantasy' game since FFIX.

It's funny how two of the most important figures at Squaresoft in the mid-90s, Hironobu Sakaguchi and Tetsuya Takahashi, have both since left the company, founded their own, and directed fantastic RPGs on Nintendo platforms. The Last Story for Sakaguchi and Xenoblade for Takahashi.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

How do you know Square Enix knows that?

Better question: why isn't FFXV coming to Wii U?

Also, you don't know what Square Enix knows, so you can't say that they know it won't sell.

Everybody knows this. The sooner you wrap your head around reality, the better.

Nintendo should buy Mistwalker and kick Sakaguchi's butt back into his glory days. I would fanboy for approx. 50 years if Sakaguchi and Takahashi were both flying under the Nintendo banner and putting out the hits. Heck, snatch up Masato Kato too. He's been freelance for a decade.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
