Interesting that you brought this up. Read up on some comments on Nintendo's earnings reports on CNET, I think. Sometimes I log in and "fight the fight" for nintendo but didn't have the energy to deal with the idiocy in their posts. People make it seem like Nintendo is on their last leg, the Wii U is just barely more powerful than a 360/PS3 and that no console has EVER had a bad launch.

Its not easy to buy a Wii U when 3ds gets all the good games.

That's why I don't get- why doesn't Nintendo allow Wii U to buy 3ds games on eShop.....

Most of Nintendo's hate is from misguided people AND straight out JEALOUSLY.
There's a difference between "Man, Nintendo really needs to step up their talent and try to advertise the U more." Thats good criticism.
Here is the usual, over the top, anti-Nintendo, criticism that we all have heard: "HAHAH! NINTENDO IS DOOMED! Its just a buncha of casuals and their cute little MARIO! XD"

Its just messed up and not fair. But you know what? People attack Nintendo for doing the same thing even though one can claim that Sony is the home of the interactive movies called games and Microsoft is home of the guns.

But that wouldn't be right cuz that would be generalizing an entire fanbase.

What console(s) have had a worse launch than the Wii-U? The Dreamcast or Atari Jaguar? The Wii-U has sold like 600,000 systems in the past 9 months. It's an undeniable fact. None of the Microsoft or Sony home consoles have sold as poorly as the Wii-U has globally.

I don't get that annoyed by it honestly, it's just console war non-sense or really lame trolling.

I do think Nintendo should try harder to go against people's perceptions of the company though. Like, they literally released a new IP with a critically acclaimed developer a month ago, but most gamers don't even know it exists so they assume Nintendo is samey (not helped by recent Marios). But then I remember how little getting tv commercials helped out Sin and Punishment 2 (another semi-new (especially outside of Japan) IP developed by a critically acclaimed developer), so I just feel bad for everyone involved.

Though I'm honestly more optimistic for Nintendo than even some fans. I still contend that most of Wii U's issues come from either typical console transition difficulties and how most people abandoned the Wii after 2010. and Nintendo is a large reason why. And honestly they did botch that, much as I'll defend the Wii. But, I really hope their current strategy with Wii U succeeds, with the continuing increase of smart and nice indie support, the collaborations with japanese developers that are unfairly nowhere near as popular as they should be while also focusing on getting ENOUGH support from the big western titles. Good variety on everything but ultimately focusing on what separates them from the competition is exactly what I want from Nintendo.

Why are you comparing sales numbers vs current gen consoles, (Wii U = next gen) we already know that PS4 & Xbox One both have +1 million preorders before launch. Compared to them in sales, the Wii U is already failed. The Wii U is doomed, but Nintendo will survive like always.

Also people are wrong when they keep saying that Wii U competes only against those, i disagree. The current gen consoles will still live on at least 2-3 years & both of them are getting new games that people will want to buy. Nintendo is battling against 4 consoles for now at least.

The hardcore gamers don't care about Wii U. The casual people who bought all those Wii's, are gone & not coming back. I hope they understand that.

If your answer is something along the lines of: "Hardcore gamers play Mature games that involve gore, and cursing and violence" then I will laugh.

Let's see how many actually get ordered. XBone and PS4 will both be competing against their predecessors too. There's 33m active gaming fans who at least like Nintendo enough to get a 3ds. I'm a casual gamer and former Wii owner who upgraded- I'll be there's a lot of people, at least a fair number of Wii owners, like me who will do the same. Granted, Nintendo needs to advertise/market better and they hurt themselves by not having Donkey Kong, Smash Bros. ready for Christmas.

Not that I care about a bunch of Nintendo fanboys pointing fingers at others and calling them idiots or fanboys but isn't a year later past the bad launch reasoning?

I'm not saying that it wasn't bad- but it's not inconceivable- in fact I'd say that it's likely, that the Wii U will be pretty close to where the PS3 and 360 were. after a year on the market. As mentioned, it will include two holiday seasons, but some of the best titles have yet to come out. How many 3ds were sold after a year. If anybody can come back from this, it's Nintendo.

Let's see just how smoothly the Xbone, PS4 go in the next 6 months and compare their numbers, see what issues they have. As the OP mentions, while it looks like the PS3 and 360 will have better numbers after a year, it's not THAT much better And the 3ds didn't exactly do that well after a year.

BTW, I'm not even really a "fanboy." I just have enjoyed my Wii U. I picked up a Wii late in the product cycle and except for Mario Kart, didn't really get into it that much. Before that I had a Gameboy Advance, a Gameboy and a SNES.
