I own it.

Do you own Skies of Arcadia Legends? If you don't, you should. It's a very good game. It is probably the fifth greatest Sega game of all time.

Let's all share stories about Skies of Arcadia Legends. Here is my story: I was forty hours in and my memory card corrupted. I am still angry and have never played it since.

I still like to look at it, though.

Only own Dreamcast original. By the time I got around to wanting the GCN version, it was nearly impossible to find. It is a very classic style JRPG and my friends don't understand what I see in it. I find it fun and charming. The highlight since I never made it very far was my first ship on ship battle. That went hand in hand with the first betrayal so it was a one two punch of excitement.

I now feel ready to comment on this topic.

I had the DC version, got about 20/30 hours in and then gave up - not sure why, TBH. I've since located a copy of the GC version (thanks James!) and intend to complete this bad-boy.

Err, WHO located it? Took me the best part of five phone calls, but I got it.

I'll complete it, one day. I need to show that Galcian who's boss!

I also had it and played it through, I lost it later on though - together with MK:DD

I rented the GCN version once a really long time ago and I didn't raelly like because of all the random battles. I didn't get very far though and I don't think I gave it a fair shake. Lately I've been raelly wanting to play it again.

I would say "it's one game everyone should have in their GC collections", but I'm about to sell mine, so that would make me something of a hypocrite.

I also can't believe I haven't finished it I started the Dreamcast version with the intention of playing it properly: recruiting all the crew members, completing Pinta Quest and all that jazz, but sadly it never happened as I have far, far too many Dreamcast games and spend next to no time actually playing them.

Still, it's got some of the best characters in an RPG ever. And the greatest music as well.

I now own FOUR copies of this game. This makes me very, very pleased. I sense it's going to make someone here a lot less pleased, which is even better!

I've got this one, and got a large way through it before giving up. Not sure why, I just did. Reading this thread has really made me want to play it again; from what I remember of the game, I simply loved it.

I do remember some of the airship battles being a right pain in the arse though!

I'd like to know what four games in SEGA's catalog are supposedly better than this one. I'm not convinced they exist.

Obviously, I love Arcadia. Which is why it pains me to admit that I've never finished playing it either. I've gotten to the blue moon area more than once, but never finished. No reason, either. Gotta try again...
One thing I like that's related to this game is the inclusion of Vyse and Aika in Valkyria Chronicles. Now if they'd only make another awesome Acadia game so I could shamefully not play through it either...

Objection

It's a great gamje that plays way too slow (in the battle system) and really could have used some voiceovers which is unthinkable on the GCN. I managed to complete it once or twice back around 5 years ago.

Really? I kind of liked the lack of voiceovers in the game, actually. It did have little things here and there, but not too much. Felt very "Nintendo," even though the game was from SEGA.

Don't get me wrong, here. As an aspiring voice actor, I appreciate the inclusion of voices in games. But I still believe that some games are better off without them, and Arcadia seems like one of those to me.

Yes, i have Skies of Arcadia Legends and i beat it.
its a great game, i hope you guys will complete it some day. My favorite part were the boss battles with Piastol, they were intense

The moon Hamachou/Piastol/Maria & Doc sidestoryline made me tear at the end.

The quest for the blue moon crystal, being stranded on an island, fighting your imposter, and getting your crew.....great moments in the game.

I spent 2 hours just on my island with a smile on my face thinkin "I'm the baddest motha f***** pirate in da Sky"
I had everything unlocked yet I saved at 20 points in the game for boss battles (EXCEPT RECUMEN) and other happenings.

Edit: How could I forget....Cutlass Wrath? (those who played the GCN version will know)

Omega Psyclone, Lunar Light, The Judgement, Hand of Fate, Gunslinger, even the spells were badass!

BTW all special moves and crew moves were voiced.

Edit - considering how many people here haven't completed the game I chopped a few potential spoilers from your post, hope you don't mind. I, for one, didn't know some bits, so I guess I don't need to complete it after all now... - James

Four Sega games better than Skies of Arcadia? Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution, the Shining Force III trilogy, Shenmue and NiGHTS into Dreams. Greatest games ever made by anyone, ever.

I've got a special black Dreamcast VM I use just for Pinta's Quest. I modified it a little to use standard AA batteries, so I can explore the skies whenever I want. One day I will complete this game, though not before the middle of the summer, I fear...

No mention of soul calibur!

YOU UNGRATEFUL JERKS!

Soul Calibur isn't anywhere near as good as Skies of Arcadia, though it is very good. It's just lacking the blue skies and general happiness that Skies of Arcadia provides in bags and bags and bags.

After all the rumours of a new Skies of Arcadia, I find myself wishing they continue leaving it alone, because it's just about perfect as it is. That said, a DS sequel would certainly float my (air) boat!

I agree, a definite must have!

I bought the game years ago when I saw it at Gamestop. I heard that the Skies of Arcadia was one of the better Dreamcast games and I was looking for an RPG at the time. I played it for a bit but never finished it dont know why I think I just got distracted with other games. Maybe I will give it another shot here soon.
