Hi there. So I have been playing Pokemon gold on an older gameboy pocket for a while now but I want to switch it over to my SP. Mainly because I want color and a backlight screen. My question basically is- Will my save data be erased if I put the cartridge into another gameboy and play it? I want to know so I don't have to start all over again.

The console won't affect save data at all. All the save data is on the cartridge.

Yes, I like bears.

@GrizzlyArctos: Thanks a lot! I thought that to be the case but when I had to change the battery in the cartridge it deleted data when I put it in. But it works now so thanks

No problem! I prefer playing my Gameboy games on my SP. I find it really difficult to play them without a backlight these days.

Yes, I like bears.

@BioMotion That's because the battery in the cartridge is what keeps the data in the cartridge RAM intact.

I thought about this and while it doesn't pertain to Pokemon Gold/Silver...

so I heard with Wario Land II, the GBC-enhanced (black cartridge) version still supports the monochrome mode, it for some reason doesn't allow the save to be transferred between the two modes and will erase it if you switch. Any other games like that?
