Topic: Best Non Ported Gameboy Advance Games?

Posts 1 to 20 of 21

I'm considering buying a Gamecube Gameboy player, but first I was wondering what the best non ported Gameboy Advance games are. It seems like most of the best selling Gameboy Advance games are just ported SNES games. There seem to be a few notable exceptions, such as Metroid Fusion and Mario Kart, but I'm not sure I'm willing to buy a Gameboy Player for only a couple titles.

Please list all of the best Gameboy Advance games that weren't ported from another system. Also, what are some of the better Gameboy and Gameboy color games as well.

Thanks!

Metroid Fusion was purely a GBA game. Zero Mission was a remake of Metroid 1 with a bit more after Mother Brain. I Bought my GBA Player purely for both Metroid Games! I know there was a Classic NES Metroid although I don't think it was necessary because once you beat Zero Mission it unlocks Metroid 1.

Go go Beckham Soccer
Scurge Hive
Kirbys Amazing Mirror
Kirbys Nightmare in Dreamland (dunno if this is a remake)
Alien Hominid
CT Special Forces (similar to Metal Slug)
F-Zero Climax/Maximum Velocity/GP Legend
Gunstar Super Heroes
Justice League Heroes: The Flash
Sonic Advance 1-3
Star Wars - Ep 3 - Revenge of the Sith
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Drill Dozer

Gameboy
Super Mario Land 4: Warioland
Metroid 2
TMNT
Battletoads
Kirby Dreamland series
Batman The Animated Series

Yes, Nightmare in Dreamland is a remake of sorts. Super Mario Advance 3 style. It's the original with SNES graphics, some minigames and new mode at the end. Also, any of the Pokémon games are great additions.

Golden Sun 1 and 2
Sonic Advance 1 through 3
Castlevania: Circle, Aria and Harmony (Hey there are a lot of sequels here in this list)
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
Mario and Luigi; Superstar Saga
Metroid Zero Mission (This is NOT a port, it is a re-imagining of Metroid 1 with Super Metroid elements, and it is my favourite 2D Metroid ever. Compared to Metroid NES which is my least favourite 2D Metroid)
The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
Wario Land 4
Various Fire Emblems (though one of them's Japanese)
All sorts of different flavours of Pokémon
Mother 3 (Japanese, duh)

Hm. That's all the GBA I can think of for now. Maybe I'll think of GBC in a later post.

Alright, you guys convinced me (not like it was going to take too much work. lol). I'm going to pick up the Gamecube Gameboy player. It's only $10 at Gamestop, and it's worth it even if I only buy a couple of the best games.
Thanks for your time.

Game Boy! (and Game Boy Color!)
List!

Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (2D Zelda in its prime)
Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (My personal favourite Game Boy Zelda)
Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (You seriously can't have Ages without Seasons. And vice versa.)
Super Mario Land (if you're into the reeeal beginnings of the handheld machine)
Super Mario Land 2; Six Golden Coins (if you want something better)
Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land (if you want something completely different)
Wario Land 2 and Wario Land 3 (if you want to continue Wario's saga)
Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge (the only Game Boy Castlevania game that's any good)
Kirby's Dream Land (for a short and sweet game)
Kirby's Dream Land 2 (for a longer, yet still sweet game)
Metroid II: Return of Samus (Better than the NES one, but still easy to get lost in the game's huge, huge map)
Various Pokémons (though these ones are waaaay outdated compared to their remakes)

And saving the best 'til last...Donkey Kong '94. Best classic-style Donkey Kong game ever. Donkey Kong in the arcades had, what, four stages? Well, this one has... 100 stages. And there's always something new going on. GET THIS ONE.

Well, that's all I can think of. In conclusion, GET DONKEY KONG. SERIOUSLY.

TwilightV

WarioWare Inc. Mega Microgames (do NOT get WarioWare Twisted or Yoshi's Topsy Turvy because they use a tilt function that will only work with a GBA(SP) or DS!)

There's also the Advance Wars series, but it's not really for everyone...

Edit: And for GB there's Mole Mania and Daedalian Opus.

@cheetahman91 Well, the Game & Watch Gallery games are technically ports, right? I would've posted 'em (cause I love 'em), but they're not exactly original games.

Metroid Fusion is very good indeed. I also like Treasures action-platformers Astro Boy: Omega Factor and Gunstar Future (Super) Heroes.

Dude, do you know how hard it is to play a "tilt" game on a Gamecube with a GBA-adapter? Don´t. Just don´t do it O_o

Well they do have the classic ones which are ports, but some of the modern ones have some differences from the classic ones. (e.g Vermin)
