@Grumblevolcano eh I know they're PS staples but with the remasters out and SOTN just getting rated for ps4 I think it would be a waste to take up spots with those since they're only targeting 20 games. Without Dualshocks Ape Escape would be impossible though.

I just preordered one but really need to see the rest of the list to know if I'm gonna keep it. Thankfully appears that the controller ports are normal usb so should be able to use modern controllers with it.

Definitely going to be picking up one of these's PS1 Classic's day one. Hopefully we will see some of these games on there also like Crash Team Racing, Metal Gear Solid, Driver, Driver 2, Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, any of the Tomb Raider games, Tomba!, Gran Turismo 2, any of the Syphon Filter games.

@Bunkerneath All.versions of the PS3 play PS One games. However only launch models play PS2.

overpriced, no dual shocks, no power adapter and they havent even mentioned all games

@Anti-Matter My Fat PS3 is still working, true I only use it for a Blue-ray player and showing people holiday photos (after nintendo stopped that application after the Wii), but it still works.
And like I said, because it was a launch model it plays all playstation games (except PS4 obviously).

I thought this was a joke, but I was pleasantly surprised to see this is real! The PS1 is home to so many great titles.

I wonder how much storage will be on this thing. This could potentially become the best way to experience the PS1 catalog, assuming dualshock support is included and the emulation is done well.

Would be great if Square Enix held back FINAL FANTASY VIII as a Sony Playstation Classic exclusive!

Am I the only one who is sick of having too many consoles? I still have my last gen console (PS3), a PS4, a Switch and the two Nintendo mini consoles. I got the mini consoles because I wanted a sort of physical release of NES and SNES games, but to be honest I would have rather bought a Switch Game Card that had an NES and SNES collection on them.

Now I'm basically just waiting for the Switch to get a few more PS3 games so I can throw that out. The PS4 I'll probably keep because it's unlikely the Switch gets every third party game. Sony hasn't even released Tekken 3, the best in the series, on PSN and now the only way to get it officially is with a mini console.

Just read both Amazon and best buy are out of stock on pre-orders, seems these may be more popular than I initially expected.

You're not the only one, no. I didn't buy the Minis for a few reasons, but the biggest being that I don't want more things hooked up. I've got my set dwindled down to Switch, WiiU, and 2DS. I've gotten more minimalist over the decade, so I'd rather have a few mutli-capable items than just dedicated consoles.

@Zuljaras it's really at impulse buy territory now at $20. I think I paid $30 something for it, I'm sure it'll be free in some capacity during the holidays.

Yeah it is cheap enough that I've been telling non gamer friends that played PS growing up to buy one.

Missed out on grabbing the PlayStation Classic when it was heavily discounted recently (£19.99 on Amazon apparently?) Damn. Now that the modding community seems to have got the PSOne library running well(?) I’d really like to pick one up.

Will we see that £20 price-point again? Amazon don’t seem to have it currently in stock themselves and are selling it via third party sellers.

I already own and have modded the NES and SNES Classics. Awaiting the arrival of my Mega Drive Mini and have the PC-Engine (CoreGrafx version) on pre-order. Love these replica systems.

Anyone got any good modding stories to share and what their games run like on the system. Assume you’re using a core within RetroArch rather than the poorly configured emulator that the stock PlayStation Classic models use?

UPDATE: Aaaaand it works. It runs on full screen at 58-60 FPS! Also the expansions run as well Blue Shift and Opposing Force!

The only thing required is a PS4 Controller or you need to make sure that the config file is mapped for PS Classic controller. But I have no idea how to play without analog sticks.

I'm still wondering about the thought process that led to Sony including the westernized version of P1. They could've at least used the PSP version, or even P2 for that matter.

What thought process. It’s simply the easier rom to paste into the thing. First game in the series, readily available, no changes needed.
