Never got around to playing a MGS game before, so would definitely try out a collection. I've also had Portal on my computer for a while but never played it, so will give it a go before 2 comes out.

Also RE: 3DS. Been having a problem getting my 3DS online, so will do what I did with my PS3 problems and restart my router. Then I'll add you guys when it's working.
EDIT: All sorted, and added.

Speaking of that, I bought the Orange Box the other day. OH. MY. GOD. Half-Life 2 is AMAZING! I'm pretty mad that I haven't played it before, it's so good. The atmosphere is very 1984, which is extremely unsettling.

for my money it's the best FPS ever made. It was my introduction (kinda) to the genre...at least the neo-genre, and still has yet to be surpassed. The first playthrough takes forever too, which is a good thing . My most recent victory was something like 8 hours...but my first probably took in excess of 20. Great, GREAT game though--glad you finally discovered it!

@smithers - still haven't preordered yet but I plan on it next week. 20 bucks off a future game purchase, 5 bucks off original purchase price, and free pc steam version (and launch of pc steam) make it foolish to pass on this game. Cross-plat multi is gonna rock!

Half Life 2 is indeed flipping amazing. I wish I had the time and cash to play through Portal 2, but it's just not going to happen for a few months. My next full purchase game will be Skyrim, and that will take me months to beat. I'm sure I'll snatch up Uncharted 3 as well though. I want to eventually grab the Tomb Raider Collection as well.

I so agree! I've never liked a FPS game this much before. The whole Water Hazard chapter really felt like I was running/driving for my life. And that damn helicopter, I never would have thought something as simple as that could be such an annoying foe with a real sense of achievement once you destroy it. Really great stuff. And I'm glad to hear it's so long! =D

Dude, I had no idea about that deal going on, thanks a ton! After beating Portal today, there's no way I can refuse a price like that for Portal 2. After this, I have got to stay away from Amazon for a LONG time, they're taking all my money. XD

@Smithers... Blu-ray drive crapped out, so he could therefore play PSN games, and message, but anything that uses the BD is screwed.

How good does it feel to be back crawling dungeons in Dungeon Hunter Alliance? It feels dang good!

Hate it with a passion. Buy Sacred 2 instead. About the same price.

I know I know, me and Gameloft and all that, so most of you will (and probably should) ignore my opinion. But I like games to have some kind of soul, and not be blatant rip offs of far better games. Nothing about Dungeon Hunter is original, interesting or clever.

Admittedly it's fine technically, but it's just... so... boring.

I gave it 2/5.

Aviator

Buying one tomorrow.

Gonna buy with it FFXIII and hopefully one or two more games, whether its in-store or on the PSN.

Advice?

@Aviator - Heavy Rain for sure. Such a great experience--recently dropped to the 30-ish dollar range in the states....hopefully it corresponds there.

littlebigplanet was a fun time, might want to see if you'd rather have littlebigplanet 2 before you go for one, i think it's supposed to be a lot better, but I don't know and I haven't played it.

I'm not entirely sure what kind of game you're into, but since you mentioned FFXIII, I take it you enjoy JRPGs.

With that in mind, White Knight Chronicles is a really good, traditional JRPG. There's also Star Ocean and Nier. If you're willing to give something different a shot, Yakuza 4 is really addictive.

On the PSN, my personal favorite games are Costume Quest (utterly charming little RPG), Alien Breed (just get one of them, all three is a bit expensive), and Vandal Hearts, although that's an ugly as sin game, the mechanics are pretty good.

Fuzzy

@y2josh - do you still play Borderlands at all? I just beat my first playthrough the other week, but haven't tried online yet. Is that more fun?

Fuzzy, Backloggery.

JayArr

@ Avi - Uncharted 1&2 are the F***ing business! You can get both of them on the cheap as well. Also, Batman Arykum Asylum is freaking amazing as well. If you enjoy some good action adventure romping like I do, anyway. n_n

JayArr's suggestions are great. I would start with Uncharted 1 and Batman AA. They are quality. Some other games I've really enjoyed are Red Dead Redemption (a Cowboy's GTA) and Darksiders (Has a lot of elements from 3D Zelda's, but with a darker tone). The Ratchet & Clank games are quite fun action/platformers too.
