Topic: Laptop cooling question

Ok not sure if anyone can help me since this is a PC problem but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.

I have a gaming laptop that I play WoW on when I am on the go. Problem is it tends to get hot really quick. I have a cooling pad for it but I was wondering is there anything else that I can do or use to keep the temp down so it doesn't get too hot?

try to keep it elevated as some of the air vents are bellow it(other than that I don't know what to do. my laptop's battery is done for and it is so old that I've stopped using it)

Try clearing out any dust you can get to, keep it in a fairly cooler environment. Try not to run programs that make it overheat

If you can, check and see if the fans are spinning. You can usually see them by looking in the vents, both on the side and bottom (Be careful flipping it upside down while it's on though). They most likely are, but always good to see. Get some compressed air and spray it (keep it straight, as to not spray liquid) and get some of the dust out of the fans. Aside from that, those cooling pads are going to be your best options. The surface you put the laptop on has a lot to do with the heat (such as putting it on a table as opposed to a bed, etc). The more you run that thing (hardcore gaming, etc) the hotter it will get... so it's normal. Maybe run it off battery some, as AC adapter may make it a little hotter. Also make sure you do not have a lot of applications running in the background while gaming (Thus increasing CPU usage and heat, making the fans spinning longer, etc). Hope this helps some!
