Got Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze for Christmas. Last time I played one of these was on a Game Boy Color.

Rad Rodgers: Radical Edition from the Japanese eShop for only 100 yen (redeemed using my very few gold coins earned from physical purchases).

I already had the physical edition, and I don't believe I have ever "purchased" anything using my Japanese account (which I normally use for downloading demos and redeeming DLC codes for my physical imports), but I didn't mind paying what amounted to around AU$1.20 for a digital copy. I even checked the Aussie eShop to check if the price was comparable, but nope, full price at AU$49.95 there.

@Eighties, @NintendoByNature I really enjoyed SteamWorld Dig! Enough to buy it more than once, which is a rare occurrence. If you like it, SteamWorld Dig 2 is also an easy recommendation.

@Eighties The game is an improvement in many ways. It's the same addictive loop with a different character and some decent enhancements! I wasn't as fond of the upgrade system at first, but it grew on me to the point where I prefer it over the first game now.

@Tyranexx I'm about 4 hours in. I like it but don't love it yet. The slow paced digging somewhat slows down the pacing. I have the drill and the mechanical arm so far but there's not enough water holes to refill that often

@NintendoByNature The game gets better as Rusty obtains more upgrades and you expand his water and lantern stores. I found the digging loop to be quite addicting! That said, SteamWorld Dig 2 is an improvement for sure. Definitely fun Metroidvanias, though they aren't heavy on combat.

DOOM (1993) (Picked it up on Black Friday for free with gold points. Very good, very fun, the map is rubbish)

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond (Got it for Christmas. Having a blast at the moment, listening to the remixed ost (SOLACEON IS A BANGER), using Pokemon I've always wanted to use like Torterra, Honchkrow, Lickilicky, etc. Currently in Veilstone about to challenge Maylene)

@Tyranexx I ended up beating it last night. The final boss was a little bit of a pain lol. But I might hold off a little on steamworld dig 2. I just bought Panzer paladin and I'm still working my way through XC2

@NintendoByNature Glad you beat it! Yeah, the final boss is a bit of a pain, but like most bosses it's a satisfying one to take down. Where are you at in XC2? I've started it as well and just cleared Chapter 2. I'm really trying to not get too sidetracked this time.

@Tyranexx haha yeah. I saw that and for some reason thought you've already played it. Im about 15 hours in but I can't remember what chapter I'm at. We just met zeke if that helps. The combat is finally starting to get fun for me too. Which at first I didn't love as much as XC:DE.

@NintendoByNature It's the only Xenoblade title I haven't played, outside of the standalone Torna: The Golden Country expansion. Sounds like you're a bit farther along than I am; I just rescued Nia from the Nor Ardainians and fled from Morag. The combat is growing on me too, outside of the need to remain stationary to auto attack.

I bought Ni No Kuni for very cheap.
Haven't tried it yet, though.
