@Truegamer79 If money is tight enough for you to ask here, I suggest you hold off replacing until you actually have to.

But whatever, and whenever, Switch 2 brings, having a good condition Switch in your life will never be a bad thing, so if you have to replace your current Switch, I'd say just get on with it and enjoy the replacement and relief.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@MarioOnTheBox i agree, and personally, I prefer play even third party games available on Switch too.
Switch's graphics capabilty is for me good enough to enjoy literally every type of game.
I have also a good PC with an RTX3060, but, for example, on the Witcher 3 i have achivied 150 hours on Switch and 25 hours on PC in cross play.
The way that Switch offers to enjoy a game worth, in my opinion, the inavitable downgrade graphics compromises.
OLED screen boost my pleasure to play on Switch even more.

I can second this. Steam Deck OLED is a fantastic device. I'd recommend the middle option (not low because that one isn't OLED, and not high because you're gonna want to upgrade the NVMe storage anyways). Then grab a 2TB Samsung NVMe off AliExpress for $120 and upgrade it yourself. Get a repair jig off Etsy for $20 and a magnetic electronics disassembly board for the screws, and a head mounted LED. Sure, it's an extra $40 tacked on, in addition to the $120 NVMe and $550 Deck OLED, so $750 after tax and everything in total. But trust... it's worth it. Don't try swapping without the right tools. Makes it SOOOOO much easier.

But just recently I got my Switch OLED modded and am overclocking which fixed framerate for everything, and resolution all 720p handheld. Can't post pics or vids or talk specific games out of respect for the rules here, but suffice it to say, I haven't touched my Steamdeck OLED since. It's AMAZING what Switch OLED can due when it's full power is unlocked. Reinvigorated my excitement for the console, enough so that I think I'm set until Switch 2 releases. Etsy shop was advertising a sale yesterday, $80 shipping included to chip OLEDs, so I couldn't resist. I sent them my other OLED to get done. I just couldn't say no to a price that low.

Kinda feels like the end of the 3DS generation when everyone was putting A9LH and Bootstrap9 on their system and having all kinds of fun taking screenshots (lest we forget, 3DS couldn't do such things, in fact neither could Wii U except for a clunky Miiverse workaround that took 2 minutes for one screenshot). Even now 3DS just got its crown jewel- a fully working Virtual Boy emu port- Red Dragon, that plays the entire library in glorious stereoscopic glasses-free 3D. Something so perfect Nintendo should have been the one to do it. Even so, it's here now.

But ya. Between Steamdeck OLED and SwitchPro OLED I feel so juiced up and excited for gaming handheld at the moment. And it's weird because everyone else is all mopy and dopy and kicking sticks on the sidewalk as their excitement has drained to the 5% warning level. Meanwhile I'm over here...

@JaxonH Add a dock for Steam Deck Oled (I don't know, 70 dollars? ) and a game pad to play docked (about 30 dollars).
So about 850 dollars to have the same play options that Switch Oled offers.
You could easily find a grade A refurbished Switch Oled with 250 dollars.
So, a 600 dollars difference.
Worth it? I don't know...

@CJD87 Yeah, the Deck OLED's battery life improvement is pretty dramatic. Pretty much everything gets double the battery life on comparable settings. Sometimes more for darker games that activate less of the screen at once.

This YouTuber reported he achieved almost six additional hours of playtime in Celeste on comparable settings, for example.

It feels just about right for this device. Not surprised there were so many battery life complaints for the older one.

I don't advise Steam as those games download require space and that can get filled up fast also Switch dedicated games don't come on Deck as well as the Cost is more then OLED Switch. Just saying Deck doesn't tell much. Switch allow multiple play game on the same Switch and there's plenty of controllers for it to use besides Nintendo OEM. Those are clearly two different consoles for different gamer type and now all can afford two consoles and if they want multiple players on on Switch is the use here-Deck is a single play console so if they have many members want to play multiple player game then they should consider Switch OLED first.
