Hi im going to the US soon and have seen the Nintendo switch there with a game is €100 cheaper than Europe. Would anybody know from experience buying one in the US and using it in Europe if it works ok? I see you can buy also the correct adapter here in eu seperately for correct voltage but i am concerned also will the games work if I buy in eu afterwards. Also would wifi be any issue? I really dont have a clue about these things😫Thanks for any help in relation to this.😊

They are Region free what you should ask is the Warranty is only good in the US for US Switches. And the power adapter will be different so if you go back to EU you should make sure the EU vs US power adapter is supply the proper Voltage/Amps to work correctly. Games will work in the EU from US it's if you go from Japan Switch games to EU i.e. EN txt will stay in Japanese unless the game itself has EN txt or EN voice option as a update. So it's the language more that will be the barrier to playing a Japanese game. If there is repairs then you will have to pay for the repairs since it's Warranty is only good for the Region the Switch was sold in.

@Lucky18M Thank you Switchforce for your reply! I read in another forum from somebody who has a nintendo switch that the adapter that comes with it is 110-220v but not sure where they bought there Nintendo switch if US or EU. Regardless that voltage should work for both once i get right adapter.

Id love to hear from somebody who actually brought one back. I live in Ireland and they are more expensive here and its for my 6 yr old for xmas. Its a huge spend for just one of his present here at €380 so trying to keep costs down. I understand about the warranty situation but have a friend in US who can sort this if needs be.

@Lucky18M no one can stop where you buy your Switch but if you take care of it then it should last just remember to get a Temper Glass screen protector for it that will be the less expensive long term protection you can do for it.

Hey @lucky18m
I'm unable to respond to your question in my topic as it got locked here
https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/nintendo-switch/buying_a_s...

So i bought my switch brought it to Europe
Used the exactt same charger i got with my switch
Bought a US to euro plug so it could fit into the socket. Only cost a couple of cents.

Been enjoying every second of my switch so far. When I'm out of house i can charge my switch using my USB c phone adapter.

Go for it. It's a darn good decision to buy one there

@xaiamasters Thanks so much for your reply. Its great to hear that it works fine here in the eu and the same charger can be used. They are €30 alone for an eu replacement Nintendo switch Charger in Smyths which is so expensive so your advice saves me another few pound also😀👍 Can i just ask if the eu games play ok on it and does the wifi work perfectly too as i know Fortnite will be a main free downloadable game my son will use on it. Thanks again!

Wifi wont be an issue at all. I have even played in the train using my mobile connection. However i wont advised that for Fortnite haha.

Games play fine. However what i did was create 3 nintendo accounts.
1 for EU 1 for NA and 1 for JP

Sometimes games are cheaper depending on region, and its a digital download. So i bought a few games from different region based on price.
However please note you will forever need that account active on your switch to play that game. Once its on your switch any account can access it.

I bought mario odyssey when it was on sale at Walmart via digital purchase, saved a good amount of money doing so

@xaiamasters actually having 3 different Region account is smart as I found out when I bought a JPN game that had a DLC but using the NA account didn't recognize the code but switching(pun) to the JPN account it downloaded with no problems. And when I switched back to the NA account the DLC was active there as well so it pays to have the extra account for DLC on imported games. But make sure to change it back otherwise your news feed will have JPN, EN, EU newsfeed and that could be alot. And only way I heard was to reset your system to clear it out. Which isn't a good proposition to do as they will wipe any games saves and anything else stored on the internal memory.

@SwitchForce It should depend on the game. I own japanese Zelda and had no trouble getting DLC through EU store.

What about the voice was it EU based or JPN? And were you able to get EU txt option?

@SwitchForce The game started in english by itself. Both text and audio, i wanted to play with japanese audio and i just had to change it in options and i had english txt with japanese voice. I believe it started in english because it is default language on my switch, even though i have the japanese version of the game.

Can you show a screenshot of it? That's what I wanted but I have to look at my NA version to see if I can do that.

Looks like this, just enter the settings menu that you can access from the first screen when you launch the game.

EDIT: I can’t see the pic myself so here is the link: http://imgur.com/1nWHAdN

Ok I have to go back and see if that option is there but as a Anime fan watcher I always like the JPN voice and EN txt. As the JPN voice had more subtle insights compared to a EN voice that lacked the essence to convey the story. Could be that the EN version doesn't give me that option either. This day and age they should give us the option.

I can 100% confirm that you can simply plug a north American power supply into an EU switch. I move from the uk and took my switch to canada and just bought a new power supply from best buy plugged it in and has been working perfectly for the last 3 weeks. And yes north Americans get video games and consoles alott
cheaper.
