@damien33ad I am reading the whole thread now and I think you're a nice guy in spite of what you said about Rare and Microsoft š. I should play Cool Spot š. You should play Rare Replay, the best game collection ever š.
I love Diddy Kong Racing, it's an awesome game and the hover races are pretty realistic kind of Wave Race which is absolutely wonderful on N64 and GameCube. They are not like Mario Kart 7/8 that is the same all the time whether in the air, underwater or on the asphalt. Diddy Kong Racing makes you feel the water and it feels like flying when piloting the planes. I'd love a Wave Race sequel and a Diddy Kong Racing remake with Banjo and Conker of course (for Switch and Xbox).
Absolutely Wario Land, it has been far too long since the last platform game. I think a developer could do quite a lot with a Wario Land styled game, since his character doesn't appear to have been locked down on as much as Mario has. As long as that developer isn't one like Arzest.
Seeing another Banjo-Kazooie 3d platformer would be great, even if the developer wasn't Rare, just that they understood what made the original games work and were able to successfully build on it.
And perhaps Spyro...maybe Toys for Bob being able to make an entirely new game this time round, since they did manage to recreate the original three titles so well.
@Snatcher Unfortunately Microsoft still owns the Blinx IP and anyone wanting to revive it would need to go through them. It's highly unlikely it'll release on any Nintendo platform.
I had a little first party shmup on Game Boy called Solar Striker I enjoyed as a kid.
However, a modernization would probably have it ending up similar to Star Fox in terms of the type(s) of game it would be, so it'll probably never get a reboot.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@damien33ad It probably comes down to sales. The original Wario Land Game Boy tetralogy sold reasonably well (5 million for the first one, 1.5 million for the second one, 2.2 million for 3 and 4). Then they left it for a few years, but did a soft reboot on the Wii. Unfortunately, Shake It/Shake Dimension only moved about a million units (well below expectations and quite sad for a Wii game). But it was released at a rather terrible time for gaming, and theyāre giving Metroid another go (despite having rather lacklustre sales in the past). Why not Wario as well?
@Euler I think WarioLand is also in a dark place thanks to Master of Disguise. I've never played it (or any of the WarioLand games now I come to think of it) but I know that Master of Disguise had a particularly poor reception.
The 1-2 of Master of Disguise and the commercial failure of Shake Dimension has probably hurt the series' reputation with the marketing department at Nintendo. It's also a series that's a bit dissonant with the Nintendo house style.
I'm sure it'll come back one day but who knows when.
@ALazyUsername128 all three of your ideas I would love on the switch. I honestly donāt care if they were remakes or not, just having the luxury of playing them on switch would be golden
Clayfighter
A new 3D Donkey Kong similar to Donkey Kong 64
1080 Snowboarding
F-Zero
Top Gear Rally
Cruis'n USA/World
Wave Race
Diddy Kong Racing
Oh yeah, and I know it's on its apparently on the way and they had to start all over again, but I wish they'd hurry the f*** up with Metroid Prime 4, it's been 13 years since the last one.
Another 2D Metroid game would be pretty cool as well - the last one Metroid Fusion was great.
