If you were stranded alone on a desert island with only a OLED switch, an unlimited source of electricity to charge your OLED, a huge TV, and one switch game from each genre of game (RPG/strategy, sport, action, adventure. What would that one and only one game be ?

I'd have to say mine would be

RPG/strategy:Civilization 6
Sport: PGA Tour 21
Action: Cult of the Lamb
Adventure: Legend of Zelda tears of the kingdom.

Probably TES V: Skyrim.

There are games that I like more than Skyrim on Switch.

But none have Skyrim's replayability.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

So not really one and only game then if you're allowed on from each genre 😜

Do I have internet access on this island? If so, then Rocket League, otherwise I'd just use the giant TV to make a raft and use the Switch as a paddle 😂

interesting topic! hmmmm im gonna say
RPG: Earthbound
Sport: mario party…that counts right…like theres a basketball minigame 😅
Action: Splatoon is considered action right? Judd on a deserted island would be very comforting
adventure: animal crossing whats more adventurous than catching bugs for a terrified owl?!! 😸

BRING NINJI INTO MARIO KART WORLD RIGHT NOW.
five favorite games of all time:
1. splatoon 3
2. minecraft
3. mother 2
4. xenoblade chronicles 3

Would choosing NSO (with all its games) be against the rules?

If so . . .

Shmup = R-type — I'm terrible at this game. I will probably play this game for the rest of my life and never finish it. But I enjoy it so much. LOL.

Fixed Shooter = Galaga — Again. A game I suck at, but really enjoy. I've actually bought this game for my Game Cube (2 copies. One in box. The other disc-only that I leave in the Game Cube), Wii, (Wii U I played the Wii version), Switch (Twice. Cart + download), and in the past bought one of those stand-alone joysticks that you plug-in to your TV that had Galaga on it. Oh, yeah . . . I also got the DS and 3DS version of this game. LOL. Clearly one of my favourite games.

Metroidvania = Metroid Dread — I haven't played this game yet. But I really enjoyed Metroid Samus Returns on my 2DS. I haven't started Dread because I went back and got GBA copies of Zero Mission and Fusion that I'm working through before I tackle Dread.

Platformer = This is a hard one. So so many I wouldn't mind playing. But probably Super Mario 3D World. I finished this game with my kids on the Wii U. But I would be game to play it again if I was stuck on an island! LOL.

Action Adventure = TLoZ Breadth of the Wild. I haven't played this yet. I'm currently working my way through OOT and MM.

Puzzle-platform = Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. I'm almost done this game. But it's one I really enjoyed playing. (Although I would also consider Mario vs Donkey.)

Racing Game = Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Tactical turn-based games = Mario vs Rabbids Sparks of Hope. I finished Kingdom Battle and really enjoyed it. I couldn't put it down. But with a big backlog of games I wanted to get at, I held off geting Sparks of Hope.

As for a stress-relief game . . . would I get Animal Crossing? Or would that remind me too much that I'm stuck on an island? LOL. Or would I get something like Minecraft?

We including internet availability? If so, either Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, or Mario Party Superstars. If online’s out of the question, then probably one of the Mega Man Legacy Collections (can’t decide which one)

Action: Splatoon 3 (I'm assuming I have internet but if not it still has good single player)

Rpg/strategy: Pokemon Violet

1. Splatoon 3
2. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

This is a tough question. I would have to choose The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Those are two games that offer a lot of replayability and are an absolute joy to play.

Those are some semi arbitrary genres.

Assuming we don't have Internet:

RPG/strategy: whatever Picross game has the most puzzles (puzzles have strategy) to keep my brain semi active.

Sport: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with all DLC. One of the very few good sports games on Switch.

Action: Mario Maker 2 with 60 excellent very difficult levels downloaded. After I master those I could make my own levels and play them to waste even more time as I slowly die alone and half-insane on the island.

Adventure: Animal Crossing New Horizons with DLC so I can pretend my horrible existence stuck on an island by myself is less bad.

If we did have internet:

Only games where we could text other players so I could constantly try to reach out and beg to be saved until I finally found someone who believed me.

Sports: MK8 Deluxe with all DLC - A very replayable game with lots of content

Adventure: Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered - 4 and 5 are very replayable games and 4 is my favourite in the franchise.

Action: Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition - Very long game to 100% complete, I managed to do it on Wii U but the Switch port I'm nowhere near.

RPG/Strategy: One of the Xenoblade games - Probably 3 or X, 3 is my favourite in the franchise so far however when X comes to Switch in less than 2 weeks from now I'll get to see which style I prefer.
